Technical Tip Tuesday
Warning, it's a little harsh.
If you have zero experience in IT, you are unlikely to get an entry-level IT job on your own.
It's hard to hear, but that is what I've noticed as a technical recruiter.
You are more than likely qualified for the role that you applied for, but the reality is, your competition will most likely have more experience.
Experience matters.
Unfortunately, the ability to walk into a company like prior generations, apply for a job right out of school and work your way up is rare today.
The workforce transformation solutions that Brooksource came up are called Elevate and Project Patriot.
We know that it's a struggle for jobseekers to get that first IT job on your own, and we know that employers struggle with having the time and resources to get those candidates up to speed.
Elevate provides those consultants with a cohort style, apprenticeship environment where they can learn, earn and grow all at the same time.
Brooksource isn't the only company offering apprenticeships or entry level programs, so if you are an associate level, fresh graduate or career changer, my technical tip is to look for paid employment programs where everyone is truly entry level instead of focusing your applications on entry level jobs.
