Let's talk about the new Deezer rebranding by Koto 💜 I see many people criticizing the new branding, and it is understandable when big companies like Deezer decide to take this kind of decisions. But let me explain to you why I like it: 💜 First and more critical, THE LOGO: Who said a heart is only for dating apps? We need to stop being so exact in the definitions, or else everything will end up being the same. In that logic so, #Bumble needs to be a yellow heart, too? I guess we are more creative like this. 🔊 Bounce to the Rhythm: Ever felt a logo dance? The new dynamic bounce of Deezer's emblem is here to remind us that life's too short not to groove along with it. 🌼 The Groovy chic is coming back; the 70s are back and touching deep the Gen Z. You can see this also in fashion and the music itself. 🌸 Saying this, let's return to the Groovy definition: It is a free, sensual style with total movement. It's a rebellion against the ordinary. It is full of artists like David Bowie, Charlotte Rampling, Farrah Fawcett, etc. It is a season full of contrasts, such as the hippie movement, glam rock, and the punk movement. Now, you get it? 🟣 Can we talk about the color? It's an attitude. It's bold, and it's absolutely vibrant. 👶🏽 Their public. We are too millennial to understand it! Let's return to the Groovy definition; It's a rebellion against the ordinary. 💚 Finally, its direct competitor Spotify is now too serious to be honest, (That's why we, millenials, like it more, pretty traditional). And its logo looks more like a signal antenna. "Be Groovy, or leave, man" -Bob Dylan

As the festive season winds down and we look towards 2024, it's the perfect time to reflect on the tech gifts that defined this year's Christmas. Instax Square SQ40 Camera: This camera has quickly become a beloved gadget due to its user-friendly interface and quality output. Unlike many of its competitors, the Instax Square SQ40 offers larger square prints, making it ideal for those who cherish physical copies of their memories. The inclusion of a 'selfie' mode makes it easier for users to frame themselves or a group. Tech Gift Cards (Amazon, Audible, etc.): The popularity of tech gift cards this Christmas underscores a key consumer trend: the desire for personalised experiences. These gift cards provide recipients with the flexibility to choose from a wide array of products and services, catering to their unique preferences. Emotn N1 Projector: The Emotn N1 Projector stands out for its combination of high-quality resolution and user-friendly features. Its 1080p resolution ensures that movies and shows are viewed in crisp, clear quality, bringing a cinematic experience into the home. The inclusion of popular streaming apps such as Netflix, Prime Video, and YouTube directly on the home screen demonstrates the device's alignment with current content consumption trends. Qobuz Subscription: Qobuz has distinguished itself in the crowded digital music streaming market by offering a catalogue of over 100 million high-resolution music tracks. Its focus on album listening rather than playlists appeals to music enthusiasts who prefer a more traditional and immersive listening experience. Headspace App Subscription: The Headspace app's popularity as a gift reflects a growing awareness and appreciation for mental health and well-being. In a fast-paced world, tools like Headspace offer a digital solution to reduce stress and enhance sleep quality. The app's extensive library of focus music, guided meditations, sleep aid sounds, and yoga guides caters to a wide range of needs, from managing anxiety to improving focus. The trend towards streaming services, as evidenced by the popularity of the Emotn N1 Projector and Qobuz, signifies a larger shift in how we consume media and entertainment. These services provide convenience, variety, and personalised experiences, aligning with the evolving digital lifestyle of consumers. As we embrace the New Year, it's exciting to consider how these trends will continue to shape the tech landscape..........

Sonos releases new but hugely broken, incomplete app causing shitstorm - Sonos launched a new version of its app this week, altering the software experience that tens of millions of users rely on to control the company’s premium home wireless home speaker systems. Turns out, people really hate it! The response from users on Reddit, on audio forums, and on social media has been almost total condemnation since the app experience switched over on May 7. Users on the dedicated r/sonos subreddit are particularly peeved about it, expressing frustration at all manner of problems. The quickest way to see the scores of complaints is to visit the megathread the users in the community started to catalog all the problems they’re experiencing. Courtesy of Sonos Many features that had long been a part of the Sonos app are simply missing in the update. Features such as the ability to set sleep timers and alarms, set the speakers at a precise volume level, add songs to the end of a queue, manage Wi-Fi connectivity, and add new speakers are missing or broken, according to the complaints. Users are also reporting that the revamped search engine in the app often can’t search a connected local library running on a networked computer or a network-attached storage drive—they way many of Sonos’ most loyal users listen to their large private music libraries. Some streaming services are partially or completely broken for some users too, like TuneIn and LivePhish+. Worse, the new app is not as accessible as the previous version, with one Reddit user calling it “an accessibility disaster.” The user, Rude-kangaroo6608, writes: “As a blind guy, I now have a system that I can hardly use.” Source: Many People Do Not Like the New Sonos App Also, they got rid of the next and previous buttons and you can't scrob through the song in the small player. You can't add all files in a directory in your Library at once to the Sonos playlist - you have to add them one by one. The shuffle is gone. You can't re-arrange queues. The system loses speakers randomly. So basically, you can't really use the app to play music with. Tuesday May 14th there will be an Ask Me Anything (AMA) - I would feel sorry for the Sonos people taking the questions, but don't because they caused this fiasco in the first place. It certainly is "courageous" (ie stupid) to release an incomplete and broken app on top over expensive hardware. - https://lnkd.in/d_3cfgS5

CEO of TypeNetwork.com. We make it easy to license the very best fonts, made by independent type designers around the world.
Products like AppleTV, Sonos, and Eero are all meant to do a very complicated thing, and they're designed to allow novices to do it successfully. That requires design and product tradeoffs. It's hard to have a product that is simple, elegant, and provides tons of configuration options and debugging tools. I get that, I do. As these products mature, the pressure to acquire new customers through elegance and simplicity out-motivates the need for products that are resilient and transparent. So we have boxes that work perfectly on day one, but that are hard to live with long-term. The prototypical example is Sonos. Sonos is amazing, you should buy some if you haven't already. They work great right out of the box for most people. However, in my 15 years or more of using Sonos, I don't think they have added a single feature to troubleshoot connectivity problems. Almost every Sonos owner will experience this at some point during the life of the product. Many of us with more complex installations will have tortuous months-long battles with gremlins that bedevil our daily use, and experiences with customer support that test our will to live and, sometimes, make us think it would better to live in icy, lonely silence. I believe there's no KPI for "Customers who self-resolved connection problems" at Sonos. There isn't even a way to tell the app you're having problems! The app will frequently spit an error message at you as your music skips or stops, but not offer any insight into cause or remedy. Another: Amazon's Eero mesh wifi system does an extremely complicated thing in a package designed for novices. There are only a few companies with true consumer-grade products in this space, and Eero may be the best. Many if not most Eero owners will experience connection difficulties at some point, but there's no way to know what's happening when it does, and there are no for troubleshooting them other than... contacting support. Eero devices can take anywhere from 2 minutes to 15 minutes or more to boot up. There's *no way* to know what is happening on the device during that time. In fact as far as I can tell, there is *no* diagnostic or troubleshooting information available to users, unless you subscribe to the $99/year "Plus" features. From our experiences with these products, we can surmise that the key output metrics being measured are "New customers +" which is managed up, and "Support cost / customer" which is being managed down. Does anybody have an example of a product that is optimised both for out-of-the-box ease of use and long-term resilience/transparency? (We designed Typekit this way, but that might not qualify as 'consumer'.)

Accessibility seems like a buzzword, sometimes. Something companies can claim to rally behind, something companies can hold an exciting PR event for, something they claim to value. However for me, a blind user, accessibility is regressing, and the regressions often times leave me unable to use appliances, devices, and services that I' a consumer like any other, paid for. Until a company takes accessibility so seriously that it is willing to invest in testing, invest in accessibility, and hold back releases that don't meet a high bar of access, I contend that accessibility is lip service, and most companies just couldn't be bothered with it, no matter how many resources they claim to invest into it. The latest accessibility fail comes courtesy of Sonos. Sonos released an app update that makes managing their speakers quite difficult to impossible. They were warned of the changes, were given an opportunity to respond, were given an opportunity to hold back the release, and they neglected to do so. The latest update from them is that accessibility will reach parity with the older app in late June. In the meantime, I doubt Sonos is compensating their users for devices they can no longer manage. I doubt anyone at Sonos is going to get fired over a bungled, incompetent release. Companies will continue to do what they do, act as they please, tell people like me to be grateful for what we have, all while making accessibility worse and breaking it altogether overnight. https://lnkd.in/gN2mCTtx
Sonos has broken accessibility for its blind users. Now they must repair the app and repair trust

🎵 HARNESSING THE POWER OF MUSIC IN THE WORKPLACE🎶 In today's fast-paced work environment, fostering a culture that promotes well-being is more important than ever. One often overlooked gem for enhancing workplace morale and productivity is music. Integrating music into our daily routines can have a profound effect on our mood, stress levels, and overall cognitive performance. Research has shown that certain types of music can be particularly beneficial. For instance, music tuned to 432Hz is said to have healing properties, resonating with the body's natural frequency to promote inner peace and balance. While the standard tuning of music has been set to 440Hz since 1953, a growing body of enthusiasts and scholars are advocating for a return to the 432Hz tuning, citing its natural harmonic resonance with the universe and its soothing effects. So why not tune into the rhythm of wellness? Whether it’s the gentle harmonics of a 432Hz playlist or your favorite tracks, let music be a source of healing and happiness in your workspace. 🎶💼 #WorkplaceWellness #MusicHealing #432Hz #ProductivityBoost #consciousnessshift #bobmarley
