It's a war on culture and society, not a culture war. The aim is to destroy both to replace them with absolute conformity and obedience. If the ideologically enlightened know everything, reason and critical thinking are redundant and likely immoral. Things turn bad when respect for disagreement and contradiction are forbidden. Reasoning is impossible without temporary suspension of the law of non-contradiction. https://t.ly/9Lh6v 'Culture war' distracts from something more inhuman- the systematic dismantling of known history of humanity and elimination of the social bonds that make civilisation possible. It is about abolition of reason and the imposition of conformity and obedience to a morally superior state which will force us to be free and eliminate critical thinking. The most humiliating aspect of living in such a state is the institutional necessity to lie to survive. Dishonesty was a way of life in the Soviet Union The war is really about the obliteration of individual freedom by inculcating the belief that it is impossible to be human or free without ideological state domination. So slavery is freedom. This is epitomised in the words of O'Brien: "The first thing you must realise is that power is collective. The individual only has power in so far as he ceases to be an individual. You know the Party slogan: ‘Freedom is slavery’. Has it ever occurred to you that it is reversible? Slavery is freedom. Alone – free- the human being is always defeated. It must be so, because every human being is doomed to die, which is the greatest of all failures. But if he can make complete, utter submission, if he can escape from his identity, if he can merge himself in the Party so that he is the Party, then he is all-powerful and immortal. [added paragraphing] The second thing for you to realise is that power is power over human beings. Over the body – but, above all, over the mind. Power over matter – external reality, as you would call it – is not important. Already our control over matter is absolute….But how can you control matter? He burst out. You don’t even control the climate or the law of gravity. And there are disease, pain, death- O’Brien silenced him by a movement of the hand. We control matter because we control the mind. Reality is inside the skull. You will learn by degrees, Winston....." With any luck events, intellectual courage and a growing number repulsed by inhuman arrogance will stop the legion of O'Briens, devoid of reason and respect, like the fate in C9 AD of the Roman army in the German Forests There is commonality in individuality, both at once, as it were. The only system that squares the collective with the individual is democracy. Western politics seems intent on crushing the individual with the collective. The core of identity politics denies the importance of history, culture, community, society and civilisation in the name of ideological domination and state control. It pretends to respect culture as it destroys it

The Paradox of Virtue: Insights from Alan Watts Hello! I'd like to share some thoughts inspired by a video I recently watched. It's a talk by the late British philosopher, Alan Watts, titled "The Road to Hell is Paved with Good Intentions". If you're not familiar with Watts, he was renowned for his interpretation of Eastern philosophy for Western audiences. He left behind a treasure trove of books and talks, all of which are still in high demand today. In this particular talk, Watts explores the paradox of virtue and the unintended consequences of our well-meaning actions. He starts by challenging the notion that we should always strive to be better. He argues that the very desire to improve is what often holds us back. This is because our understanding of what is 'better' is inherently flawed. We don't know what's good for others, and often, we don't even know what's good for ourselves. Watts uses the example of geneticists who have the power to breed any kind of human character they want. They can create saints, philosophers, scientists, great politicians - anything. But the question is, should they? Watts' talk is a reminder of the complexity and interconnectedness of the world. It's a call to humility, to acknowledge that we don't have all the answers, and that our well-intentioned actions can sometimes lead to unforeseen problems. But perhaps the most profound insight from Watts' talk is his interpretation of a saying by the Chinese philosopher Lao Tzu: "The highest virtue is not virtue and therefore really is virtue. But inferior virtue cannot let go of being virtuous and therefore is not virtue." Watts interprets this to mean that the highest virtue is not conscious of itself as virtue. It's just being, just living. It's the virtue of breathing, of seeing, of being alive. These are the real virtues, the ones that don't need to be labeled or celebrated. In contrast, the virtues that we consciously strive for, the ones that we wear as badges of honor, are often the ones that cause the most trouble. As Watts puts it, "more diabolical things are done in the name of righteousness." Everyone, regardless of their nationality, political beliefs, or religion, believes they are on the side of righteousness. But this belief often leads to conflict, war, and suffering. So, what's the takeaway from all this? I think it's a call to embrace humility, to question our assumptions, and to acknowledge the complexity of the world. It's a reminder that our well-intentioned actions can have unintended consequences, and that the virtues we strive for may not always be virtuous. And perhaps most importantly, it's a call to appreciate the simple, unconscious virtues of being alive. I hope you found these insights as thought-provoking as I did. As always, I'd love to hear your thoughts. Until next time, keep exploring, keep questioning, and keep living. Watch the full video here: https://lnkd.in/epHyfwwt

I find it very odd and disturbing that these things need to be said out loud even today! This is the kind of stuff that needs to be on billboards. Someone in my feed wrote about doing a background check before accepting anyone as a mentor. Learning whether a person is “safe” is one of the first things aspiring professionals need to do. A simple check can save you years of therapy and trauma. Please be mindful and practice caution wherever you go. P.S. In case you need to vent or share, please know that my DMs are a safe space. #workculture
