You know the old cliche cringy saying: Marry the House, Date the Rate.
As much as I personally hate hearing that, it’s a cliche because it’s so true. You can always work down your rate over time but you can’t work down your original purchase price AFTER you’ve bought the home.
Another trade secret: Buy the neighborhood, meaning, find an area and neighborhood that you love, MORE THAN the house you love. The reason: you can’t change the neighbors house, but you can change yours. Find the area you want to be in and slowly change your house to what you personally like, over time.
The amenities, convenience, peacefulness, location, etc. are all things that you should look at when buying a house. It’s not just the box you live in, it’s the whole community.
