What if we would make the claims of livability on street space just as hard as those of car parking? Would that make discussions about street space allocation fairer? In this open access article we precisely explore these two questions. https://lnkd.in/eXnZm2iG

It can be difficult to organize a garage. It seems like you never have enough room, but is that actually the case? Because we are aware of our customers' demands for a functional yet well-organized garage space, we have teamed with PROSLAT. Most of the time, our clients' top concerns are related to garage organizing. Shared Bike Lanes on a stroad? 🤷♂️ Who would ride there? In my #BeyondTypicals Random Recreation video this morning I found a five-lane section of 86th Street in Owasso, Oklahoma with lots of ROW and huge grass boulevards - and for some reason cyclists don't have a safe space to ride. I took an extra couple of minutes to insert one-way curb-level bikeways on each side of the road in a "Proposed" model. In retrospect this probably should be a two-way trail on one or both sides of the road, but my gut was to avoid the utility pole impacts that might have come with a wider shared use facility as an easier, lower-cost improvement. What do you think? Beyond CAD Inc. #CivilEngineering #TransportationPlanning #CompleteStreets #UrbanDesign #LandscapeArchitecture

You can make better use of your parking lot by making a few specialized parking zones. For example, creating a section with narrower spaces for compact or sub-compact cars can increase your capacity without paving more area.

Imagine a parking lot that can handle heavy traffic without breaking a sweat – that's the magic of Tensar interAx. It's like the superhero of surfaces, especially in busy park parking lots where big vehicles can wreak havoc on regular ground surfaces. So, here's the scoop on Tensar interAx: it's not your average sub-base fix. Instead of throwing in the towel when faced with potholes and ruts, it brings in some high-tech reinforcements. Picture this geogrid tech as a superhero sidekick, working undercover to distribute the load and prevent those annoying weak spots that lead to surface meltdowns. Now, parking lots are like battlegrounds for wear and tear, with vehicles doing a dance of destruction. But fear not – Tensar interAx isn't just tough; it's smart. It doesn't just patch things up; it reinforces the entire structure, giving a one-two punch to potholes and ruts. And here's the bonus: less maintenance. That's right – fewer headaches and more savings because, let's face it, no one enjoys fixing up a parking lot every other month. But it's not just about durability – Tensar interAx is the unsung hero for those big wheels rolling into the park. It smoothens the ride for everyone, making sure drivers and pedestrians can navigate without dodging craters. So, if you want a parking lot that laughs in the face of heavy traffic and keeps its cool against colossal vehicles, Tensar interAx is your go-to. It's not just preventing damage; it's paving the way for a parking lot revolution – because why settle for less when you can have a surface superhero? #smoothroadsmatter #graveldriveway #QualityCraftsmanship #leandertx #georgetowntx #burnetTx #libertyhilltx Schedule your Driveway online www.Phillips-SS.com / Call or text 512-588-4708 Phillips Skid Steering Granite & Gravel Driveways Central Texas . . . . . . #leander #libertyhill #georgetown #roundrock #floranceTX #cedarpark #burnet #bertram

A very visible example of Fairfax County Department of Transportation making huge investments in #pedestrian and #bicycle infrastructure throughout the County. When it opens, it will improve #mobility for thousands of people. It’s been a privelige to be a part of that transformation over the last couple decades. Whether it’s planning/funding/designing/constructing an #infrastructure project like this, or developing urban, #completestreets standards for our roadways or evolving our #metrics for transportation analysis to ensure we are making #datadriven decisions for all modes, the transformation is real. If you are looking to be a part of that kind of change-embracing environment, we are hiring! Check out our #jobs listings found at: https://lnkd.in/eUqJEPPk

Did you know? The person who first had the idea for painting a white line down the middle of a road to separate traffic travelling in different directions was an American, Edward Hines. Hines was heavily involved in the development of the US road network, and first had the idea for painted lines after watching a leaking milk wagon leave a trail down the middle of a street. This simple idea has since been recognised as one of the most important single traffic safety devices in the history of road transportation. #TraffixFacts #TrafficManagement #RoadSigns #RoadMarkings #RoadSafety #TrafficSafety

Achieving appropriate vehicular speeds through a roundabout is the most critical design objective. A well-designed roundabout reduces the relative speeds between conflicting traffic streams by requiring vehicles to negotiate the roundabout along a curved path
