Big thank you to Milwaukee County Executive David Crowley for touring our facility and reading stories with some of our children this morning. Our executive team shared the unique programs we offer to children in Milwaukee County and the importance of providing early intervention services for our most vulnerable children.
Community Reintegration Center Superintendent, Milwaukee County
The purpose of the name change from the House of Correction to the Community Reintegration Center was to destigmatize the facility and better align it with the mission of rehabilitation.
Today, the Community Reintegration Center is working to rehabilitate and reintroduce residents back into the community, helping them become socially and economically successful post-release.
I've got some exciting news to share: I'm officially running for re-election!
We’ve accomplished A LOT in these past 3 years. We made it through a pandemic together, we’ve been able to provide millions in funding for small businesses, we’ve attacked the opioid epidemic head on, we’ve worked to address our housing crisis, and we got a bipartisan deal done to secure the County’s fiscal future.
We’ve been able to accomplish so much for our residents by making Milwaukee County healthier and more equitable. But guess what? We're just warming up! 💪🏾
I'm here to ask for your trust once more as we continue our journey to move our community forward. Your support has meant the world to me, and together, we'll keep making great things happen. Share this post if you’re with me!
Congrats to Milwaukee County, WI, for going live with their #BudgetSimulation! The County is using the tool to receive feedback on their proposed 2023 budget year. County Executive David Crowley remarked, “Intentionally finding ways to include the voice of the public in [the budget] process is key to making sure our priorities reflect the needs of the people who live here." The new workplace landscape after the last two years underscores the importance of employer policies that value the needs of not only their employees, but also their families. True workplace equity will give everyone inside the home the tools they need to meet their children’s needs and not force parents to choose between paying the rent or caring for their family.
That is why I was proud to sign County Supervisor Liz Sumner and Supervisor Ryan Clancy’s eight-week paid parental leave for Milwaukee County employees.
I look forward to this legislation taking effect in June for Milwaukee County employees, and I hope employers throughout the region follow our lead in providing employees more flexibility to care for their children. Together, we can change the employment landscape in Milwaukee, and make the workplace more equitable and bridge the gap in these important racial health disparities.
