Help get Crescenta Valley High School's FIRST Robotics Competition team 589 Falkon Robotics to the Houston World Championship! At the Ventura County Regional, team 589 won the coveted Engineering Inspiration Award, earning them a spot at the FIRST World Championship April 17 to 20. They need your help to get there. Friends of Falkon Robotics is a 501c3 nonprofit organization so your donations are tax-deductible. You can donate through Paypal: https://lnkd.in/gpGUJbfE Or through Facebook: https://lnkd.in/gVhshK6t Team 589 is different from many other teams, because they maximize inclusion: they do not turn any student away, and do not collect club dues. That allows anyone to be a part of this family. At the same time, this makes attending events like the World Championships more complicated. The team is hoping to raise $10,000 to help cover costs for 40 students and 10 mentors. With your help, they will be able to attend this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity, allowing them to benefit from the work they have put in. Our mission: Inspire K-12 students to pursue careers in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math through hands-on, mentor-based robotics programs that are deeply connected to our community. Team 589 is about more than just building robots. They build good humans. From mentoring FIRST LEGO League teams, to running food drives, the Falkons know that supporting their community is just as important as the competition. THIS is why they won the Engineering Inspiration Award. Not only will the team be competing, but they will also be there to cheer on teammate Ethan who is a Finalist for the Dean's List award at the Championships. Help these Falkons SOAR to Houston!

What do you take away from CYBATHLON competitions? "Participating in the challenges was a very positive experience," says Gabriel Gruener, the leader of the BFH-FAIR team. "We built our system in only three months with components from our lab shelves and programmed it with very simple algorithms. Gabi (Pilot Gabiela Pozzi) was only able to train with it three times – but it worked very well: We can solve the two CYBATHLON tasks, just not fast enough yet. Now we have enough time until October 2024 to realise all our ideas, develop the system further and train with it." The interdisciplinary team BFH-FAIR with researchers and students from the School of Engineering & Computer Science and the School of Health Professions of Berner Fachhochschule BFH will compete in the CYBATHLON 2024, in the newly created discipline Assistance Robot Race. We wish the whole team and the pilot all the best for their preparation, training and the competition in October 2024. #CYBATHLON #robots #assistivetechnology #ForAWorldWithoutBarriers #disabilityinclusion #peoplewithdisabilities #technologicalinnovation #robotics maxon
