Whether I’m addressing an audience in a keynote or those in my CEO Access family, the most common question is how to achieve work-life harmony. The answer lies in the ability to say no! Warren Buffett says, “The difference between successful people and really successful people is that they say no almost all the time,” and I couldn’t agree more. Here are the top 5 reasons it works: They focus on priorities: This laser-like focus helps them achieve more significant results. Efficient use of time: Time is a finite resource. Really successful people understand this and guard their time fiercely. Fewer distractions mean more time for things that matter. Maintaining quality: Prioritizing quality over quantity ensures the highest standards in their work. Reduced stress: Overcommitting often leads to stress and can burn people out. Strategic decision-making: It allows them to choose only what aligns with their long-term vision and goals. If you have a hard time saying no to new opportunities, don’t feel bad. The human nature of A-type personalities and hard chargers is to want to grow and conquer new things. I also find myself spreading myself too thin from time to time. But it usually doesn’t last long. When I notice that I have too much on my plate, I take inventory of several things: What is important to the long-term vision? What am I doing just to be nice to others, or out of guilt? What is not working, and do I need to shut it down? What brings me a lot of joy? Asking myself these questions allows me to cut out distractions and refocus on my goals. I hope this helps as you continue to grow personally and professionally. DJ

Couldn't agree more, Daymond! 🚀 Saying no feels like a secret weapon sometimes. It's all about keeping your eye on the prize and not getting sidetracked. Learned this the hard way, but it's been a game-changer for me. Would love to hear more about how you decide what cuts!

1moThat is so true. I'm laser focused on the clients I want to work with. I'll say no to a $5,000/month 6-month client if it doesn't feel right. For me, clarity is key. I appreciate the money I make so much more from my ideal client. We're all in, we accomplishing things, get clear and then kick butt. I can't take on someone just for the sake of the income. That's not fair for the client or me.
