The proposed topic is Breaking Barriers: The Scarcity of Black Women Advertising Agency Owners and Leaders. The session will address the notable scarcity of black women advertising agency owners, exploring the barriers they face and the critical need for greater diversity in agency leadership by sharing personal insights and experiences. AIGA Eye on Design is a treasure chest of creative work and information!

I found my way to Cannes by a serendipitous challenge by an industry friend. “You should come to Cannes.” That day I began my research - for what I thought would be next year - looking for grants I could apply for, groups I could attend with. I’d missed the official Cannes Equity, Representation and Accessibility program deadline. But I did find The Black Network, Cephas Williams program application - the deadline had been extended to 11:59p that night. It was meant to be. There are 50+ of us from a myriad of creative fields. With them I found community in the fullness of who I am. My introverts. My creatives. My perfectionists. My students of the craft. My biz devs. My storytellers. My agency leaders. My empaths. My music lovers. Thank you. To all the beautiful people who looked me in the eyes, extended their hand as I extended mine and said “hello” and proceeded to share our stories… thank you. You made my Cannes Lions International Festival of Creativity experience brighter and richer because we met. If you ever thought about attending. Do it. We’ll be there, ready to embrace you. AND now the business development. Until next year.
