Introducing Matthew Abenojar, Executive Meeting Manager at the Ameswell Hotel! How long have you been with the company? I have been with The Ameswell Hotel for almost a year! This is also my first hotel job, and I am really enjoying my time here. I have an amazing team and I am thankful for all the opportunities that have been given to me. What is the best advice you can give to someone who just started their career? The best advice I can give is to go in with an open heart and open mind. If you are just starting your career, you are unsure of what you like and what you don’t like. With an open heart and mind, you will have a wider perspective when learning new things and being outside of your comfort zone. When you are at work, how do you motivate yourself? When at work, I motivate myself by collaborating with my team and working out different obstacles that I run into. Also, I make sure to walk around the hotel and chat with different departments to build community. In terms of successes, which accomplishments are you most proud of? I am proud of planning my first large multi-day event that had more than 70 attendees. I was unsure about the approach how to plan this but, with the help of the team, I was able to successfully put everything together.
