Sat down with my bud David Singleton (CTO, Stripe) for an hour last week to chat about Engineering at @stripe and @Shopify Here's a snippet where we spoke about managers needing to come from craft expertise — not running away from coding There are lots of ways managers can do this well: * pair programming 🔑 * coding in hack days * blocking days/a week to code — David calls this 'engineerication', in @ShopifyEng we call this 'studio weeks' * switch tracks to IC for a tour of duty * tinkering often

2moThink Stripe needs to not hold the monies of ppl without any explanation for months until threatened with legal consequences and only then react and respond. Something seriously wrong with Stripe.
