A great leader who I admire and have tried to emulate since early in my career once told me that as a leader “people are watching, and you are never off duty”. I confess that I’ve found the idea that how I behave in every interaction really matters both true and rather daunting. Recently I had the pleasure of reading a pre-print copy of Do Sweat the Small Stuff (https://a.co/d/3MEerSZ) by the brilliant and perspicacious Sarah Langslow, MBA, PCC which is out in a few weeks — it’s a great active read (keep a pen handy). The book offers a valuable lens to observe your own leadership through, and a practical set of exercises and suggestions to intentionally develop your influence and effectiveness as a leader, by focusing on the acute impact of your so-called micro-interactions.

Thanks Anne Bouverot, Special Envoy of President Macron for the AI Action Summit, for visiting Stripe! AI will have transformative effects not just on the tech sector, but across various aspects of everyday life from healthcare to education to climate change mitigation. It was wonderful to hear Anne’s vision for next year’s Paris AI Summit, which will provide a global moment to explore the benefits of AI, and an open forum for discussing how to ensure these benefits are broadly distributed. And I was happy to share details on how Stripe is deploying AI to help businesses increase revenue and decrease costs, and to offer our insights on the AI businesses being built on the Stripe platform.
#AIActuinSummit #Innovation #Trust I also had the pleasure of meeting David Singleton, CTO Stripe Since 2013, Stripe has been leveraging machine learning to combat the rising rate of online payment fraud. The introduction of large language models (LLMs) is opening new avenues, eliminating the need for labeled data. David gave an excellent presentation on real use cases at Stripe, developed in just a few months: an LLM that reads all pages of a website to verify legitimate businesses, a chatbot for customer queries, and more David emphasized the industry's need to better share #Trust and #Safety experiences. And Paystack, Stripe's subsidiary in Africa, also uses LLMs! Looking forward to continuing the discussion towards next February’s global #AIActionSummit in Paris Arno Amabile Frédéric Jung Paul Salvaire Vanessa Bonnet Roxanne Varza Guillaume Poupard Martin Tisné Philippine Lefèvre

Wonderful to sit down with my friend Farhan Thawar at Shopify. I spoke about the importance of managers taking engineerication (engineer+vacation), working directly with teams to understand the developer experience at Stripe.
Sat down with my bud David Singleton (CTO, Stripe) for an hour last week to chat about Engineering at @stripe and @Shopify Here's a snippet where we spoke about managers needing to come from craft expertise — not running away from coding There are lots of ways managers can do this well: * pair programming 🔑 * coding in hack days * blocking days/a week to code — David calls this 'engineerication', in @ShopifyEng we call this 'studio weeks' * switch tracks to IC for a tour of duty * tinkering often

Stripe is continuing to expand in Canada—the Toronto office itself, our product offering, and our user-base (Canada’s now our third-largest market!). At our meetup tonight, it was great to chat with Sanjana Basu and Robleh Jama and meet with so many local users. It’s an interesting moment for tech in Canada, but there are two things I know are true here: the quality of talent is undeniable and the tenacity of entrepreneurs is energizing.
