💻 This is the look on my face at the end of a Q&A on the #EuropeanUnion (EU). 😊 This conversation with people unconnected with European affairs covered key issues: ✅ What is the #EU. ✅ What can the EU do and to what extent. ✅ Schengen Area. ✅ European Elections. Some reflections below: Although a Q&A can be intimidating due to the unknown questions, the same doubts about the EU #integrationprocess arise frequently. The European Institutions offer useful resources, but the ordinary people's understanding remains limited. All in all, these conversations are not only very nourishing, but they are also important to spread knowledge to individuals eager to understand. Comprehending the theory is essential for forming one's conclusions. Kind reminder: #UseYourVote in the next #EuropeanElections (6-9 June 2024). ✉ 😉 👉 https://lnkd.in/daN7YqMj #Thankful 🙏 #Europe #EuropeaConvencida

From Brussels, Ben Butters, CEO of Eurochambres, joins me on next Saturdays Business Matters to discuss the upcoming European Elections and to outline the importance of electing pro-business candidates with clear positions on economic policies, trade agreements and regulatory frameworks. Eurochambres is the Association of European Chambers of Commerce and Industry. The association is a representative organisation for businesses in Europe through 42 members and a European network of regional and local chambers. Irish businesses are getting increasingly “entangled in [EU] regulations” connected to the so-called Green and digital transitions, according to Chambers Ireland. #europeanelections2024 #euelections

A large scale attitudes survey across a core set of European nations found significant pessimism towards the Eurozone’s economic prospects. The survey, conducted for major insurer Allianz, also found major fractures in public attitudes towards the benefits or disadvantages of EU membership. Austrians were generally in favour of EU membership with a net positive rating but French and Germans in particular were significantly negative about the benefits their respective countries gained from the EU. More Europeans want the EU to be an independent third pole, compared to lining up with either the U.S. or China. #fragmentedEU
