Talent Strategy and Operations Leader at Deloitte | Advancing the future of work and building a winning talent experience that helps our professionals reach their full potential

Last week, like so many other families this #GraduationSeason, I was thrilled to celebrate my daughter Madeleine Rizzo’s high school graduation. We could not be more excited for her as she starts this next chapter of her life. 👩🎓❤️ For me, thinking about the #FutureOfWork has special significance when it applies to your own children. Even if I can’t anticipate all the ways work will evolve for Maddie’s generation, there are a few things I observe about her that make me confident she will have a rewarding career. 📚 She knows how to learn. She is a curious problem solver who is frequently asking me ‘why’ not just ‘how.’ As the shelf-life of skills gets shorter, those like Maddie who are curious and know how to learn will find ways to adapt. 🔎 She is a skeptic in the best sense of the word. She doesn’t take what technology produces at face value. She is always asking about sources and bias, and trusting her judgement when something doesn’t look right. I am so excited to see what Maddie will accomplish working with the growing capabilities of technology. 🤝 She sees life as a team sport and appreciates the value of human connection. For such a young person, I am so impressed with her ability to connect and collaborate with others, empathize, and embrace diversity to get remarkable things done. As her father, I have the unique privilege of knowing Maddie and her individual potential, but I know many in her generation share similar mindsets, characteristics, and principles. I'm filled with optimism for this generation's future of work, and the incredible things they will accomplish.

Congrats indeed, what a huge investment this represent on all your parts of time, talent and lots of energy! Appreciate that perspective on the future of work as well, David, and one I’ve already had cross my mind with my 6-month old. Don’t worry, no multiplication tables yet ;) more so deeply considering how to champion both her uniquely human traits and her unique to her traits so she can thrive as herself in our ever changing workforce demands. I’ll look forward to some notes from you that, Dave!
