An interesting point of view on US-China trade relations for those committed to "decoupling". Over the years, it has been my observation that US consumers like the idea of Made in America. However, at the end of the day, they dump that ideal pretty quickly because what they really want is the best stuff at the lowest price. And when that's hard to get, they'll often accept considerably less than the best, as long as the price is attractive. Until that changes, we're not likely to see a meaningful shift away from goods made in China. This article makes a serious point. Even with large tariffs, China has a very powerful capacity to offer goods at low prices. That won't end with the stroke of a Presidential pen. #chinasourcing #internationaltrade #decoupling #nearshoring

It's an election year in the US, and the political discourse is highly charged regarding China and tariffs. Both candidates have points of view about how we should be managing the US-China trade issues. At the same time, many companies' strategies with respect to China are changing or, at least, in flux. Some US companies are slowing down their China-sourcing, others are engaged in "decoupling" and others are sticking with business as usual. However, even with the prospect of some rather significant tariffs, a number of people are saying that prices from China are still so attractive that we're not likely to see an end to the source-from-China era anytime soon. If this issue is on your radar screen, take a look at this article which presents some interesting points of view. #Chinasourcing #decoupling #Chinatrade #nearshoring https://lnkd.in/dSJkKpJH
