When I think about the best way to add on to a marketing operations team (especially if you are only currently a team of one) I think about how we actually structure our teams at CS2 today. We have our consultants who are the operations lead who focuses on the roadmap, strategy, and overall execution on the big revenue growth architecture projects. These folks are also supported by our MOPs team who helps assist on executing on the builds of those projects. We also have our Campaign Operations team who focuses on setting process and execution of campaigns. And then we also have our Solutions Architecture & Analytics team who focus more on the strategy and developement within integrated platforms (mainly CRM), analytics and data. As you begin to hire (and normally you are like our client leads being a solo operator) - think about hiring on your co-leads of those areas to start. It's impossible to keep up with campaigns day to day and get big projects on infrastructure done. And it's also crucial to hire in places where you might not have the expertise but can benefit. A lot of times this is on the CRM development side or analytics. When the team size is still small you need to be able to be strategic and execute. So finding those co-leads who can also do the same will ensure you all are successful. And as your demands get hire those leads can hire within their domains.
