This video reminds me of a fundamental elements in leadership i.e. role model. The man in the video is the pack leader. He demonstrates to his group what he is trying to achieve and leads them in the effort. Even though the first jump is unsuccessful, he doesn't dwell on it. Instead, he brings the group together, sets the tempo, and shows them how to do it. As expected, the pack eventually succeeds. The ingredients? Bananagrams, bookstore browsing, and laughter. The result? A break from constant doing. This weekend, my daughter and I visited my mom. A quick, meaningful getaway. We dove into book talks, sharing tidbits from our latest reads. It was a chance to pause, breathe, and really absorb the moment. Sifting through old photos, each snapshot a story from generations past. We indulged in local food (Grandma’s Empanadas in Warner Robins, GA). I embraced being fully present. I’m not always great at this between the long to-do list of work and kids and personal goals. This weekend, it could wait. I noticed each urge to reach for my phone. It became a reminder: success isn't a sprint. It's a mindful journey. This weekend is about stepping back. At other times it’s about pushing full steam ahead. Today, I focus on reconnecting with family, roots, and self. A lesson in how sometimes, slowing down propels us forward. Is your heart pure? A pure heart means being honest, kind, and compassionate to yourself and others. You don't have to be perfect or flawless, but rather being authentic and genuine. By that I mean you can see the good in everything and everyone, and you can appreciate the beauty of life. Happiness is not something that you can chase or buy, but something that you can create and cultivate. Happiness comes from within, from being content with who you are and what you have. Spoiler alert! It’s also contagious! When you are happy, you can spread joy and positivity to others too. Your actions, choices, goals and whatever you do, do it with passion, purpose, and integrity. Ensure it aligns with your values and vision, not because of external pressure. So, the next time you feel unhappy or dissatisfied with whatever you do, ask yourself: “Is my heart pure? “Am I being true to myself and others?” “Am I doing what I love and what matters to me? Remember these? 🫣 When I was in corporate🪜, every set of holiday 🎄& vacation 🛳️pictures had one of me on my blackberry.🤳🏻 I was convinced if I *did* more I would be more. More liked, more appreciated, more respected - you know all the more things we tell ourselves & attached to about our worth. 🤦🏻♀️ I worshiped at the altar of productivity🏃🏻♀️🫨because I thought that was the pathway to fulfillment & happiness. Fortunately those days are gone for me, however I remember the feeling of frenzy, disconnection, overwhelm…etc. I would read books or take a seminar but also wonder if anything would ever change. Notice even then it was about the *doing* & fixing. 😉 I was always running 😏. I use to dread winter ❄️ - not just the season but any time that I had to slow down or stop or *gasp* be alone. Now I savor it. All great creation stories happen in darkness. 🌑 Slowing down, contemplating, discerning & creating space helps you speed up later. You can move differently in the word.
