🔄 Reframing my Life’s Architecture For years, I believed in the traditional life arc: • 20: Start work • 20-65: Work 40-60 hours per week • 65+: Retire and enjoy life I thought I could hack this system by achieving these stages earlier. Working 70 hours per week until I was 50 and then retiring seemed doable, given my track record of being the best student, graduating summa cum laude, and learning quicker and better than most. Over the last three years, I’ve often said I was building EUVC to be the business I wanted to retire from. Now I realize how wrong that was. The traditional concept of retirement assumes a clear “before and after” in our lives. We work tirelessly for decades and then finally get to enjoy life. This foundational assumption feels increasingly broken to me. What if there was no distinct “before and after”? What if our lives were fluid, allowing us to balance fulfilling work with the relationships, hobbies, and experiences that bring us joy? “The goal is to design a life that you don’t need to retire from.” Here’s what a designed life arc might look like: • 20s: Hustle to build a solid foundation. • 30s: Focus on high-leverage opportunities. • 40s: Delegate to gain more freedom. • 50s: Dive into the most meaningful work. • 60s+: Focus on what truly matters. This shift in thinking also impacts how I approach business growth and development at EUVC. It’s not about racing to a finish line but about building a sustainable, fulfilling journey. Over the last year, I’ve mastered my anxiety and fear of failure while achieving better business results. I’ve reduced my working hours, started working out again, and taking care of my body. The pivotal moment was getting engaged to my wonderful wife Inês Cipriano September last year and knowing we’re expecting our baby girl in August. More rambling on this topic soon.
