Starting from zero sucks We've worked with over 100+ founders and there comes a point of success where they get bored and want to do something new... I know I've felt this before. The ol' shiny object syndrome. Here's a sobering reminder: ➝ It's much easier to take your existing business from 2M per year to 5, 10,15M per year than it is to start a new business and scale it up to that same revenue. This is where compound effort comes in. ➝ If you always are starting a new businesses, you have to start from 0. ➝ If you always are launching a new funnel for your marketing, you have to start from 0. ➝ Instead of honing one sales pitch, you're constantly starting over, starting from zero reps. ➝ Instead of improving one product, you think your next product will be the x factor, once again starting from zero. You might notice a trend, and there's a key problem that comes with it. You can't compound 0. But you can compound tiny gains over time that lead to tremendous results. If you apply compound effort... ➝ You keep building onto your existing company, and let the infrastructure and leverage you've built work FOR you instead of brute forcing. ➝ You hone ONE marketing funnel until its absolutely lethal and prints customers on demand. ➝ You relentlessly improve one product until people absolutely rave about it and customers do your marketing for you. The lesson? Massive gains are found by improving what you've got, not tearing everything up and starting new. Compound interest makes investors rich, compounding effort makes entrepreneurs rich. All we're looking for is those 1% improvements each day that make our companies better. Same principle, different context. 

Addressing a small audience without necessarily pausing to think about what others care about is gold. ________ I wish business owners would just stop chasing thousands; rather, focus on serving the 10-100 people that they have so well that they wouldn't want to miss any offer from you. The right people know you, they believe you and they are willing to work with you. I created a Newsletter file for LinkedIN November 22, 2022 and I haven’t posted a thing. Although I post infrequently, it’s usually because I know I need to maintain a presence but deep down I’ve seen the application as one where I need to be very Corporate. So on the days where I’m not corporate, I’ve stayed away. The truth is, this is contrary to the advise I give to my client. I’m encouraging them to get out of their comfort zone and start that business, to go into uncomfortable places, while here I am not leaning into where I can share my knowledge so others can be helped. Here’s to closing out 2023 by taking a bold step and also a bright 2024, where you can expect to see more insights with strategies on how to start your business and get that other income stream turning! Alfie Whattam is smashing it as a startup founder. But like every start to a great business, he’s wasting valuable time. (I say in the nicest way, Alfie). Yesterday, we met up to discuss his video marketing and social strategy. → He’s making 500+ videos a year → He’s building his business to sell  → He’s networking like an absolute animal He’s killing it. Right? Well… Below the surface, he’s in the trenches, running out of time to create content,  tied to the process of daily videos, trying to build and scale his business, and he’s about to reach burnout. Relatable? Absolutely. We spoke for one hour. Here's the fix: → Cut anything that isn’t getting incredible results.  → Spend more time on the platform, and cut out the fluff.  → Separate the personal brand from the company brand. → Lean into the founders' journey to build brand advocates. → Post more on business pages to make the brand a sellable asset. It’s common to feel trapped in the creative process of daily posting, especially in all of the excitement of a fresh-faced business. Growing an audience is my priority for 2024. From what I gather, it's a bit like raising capital for your dreams. I'm no VC or angel investor. But from what I'm learning about both audience growth and raising capital, there are some parallels. You have to make whoever you're pitching to care about what you're selling. You have to show them the return on their investment in time, money, and attention you want from them. You have to know what makes your audience tick and what they're looking for when they consider investing their time, money, and attention in YOU. Maybe this is obvious to the finance bros and queens or the 10-figure entrepreneurs and seasoned copywriters out there. For someone like me who just has a message to share and a movement to start, it's something I'm learning more about every day. If you're also growing an audience, what's your best audience growth tip?
