We are one day away from the Third Annual GCR Pharmaceuticals conference. Mark Gidley from White & Case LLP and I are co-chairing a great event this year.
I will be chairing a session focused on class certification in the UK and US, and will be joined by a great panel: Eric Hochstadt from Weil, Gotshal & Manges LLP, Kate Vernon from Quinn Emanuel, and Paul Harris QC from Monckton Chambers. We will discuss the recent Merricks v. MasterCard decision in the UK, and what that means for collective proceedings in the upcoming years, drawing lessons from recent developments in pharma class action in the US.
In addition to this panel, this year's event will be keynoted by Fiona Scott Morton from Yale School of Management, former Deputy Assistant Attorney General for Economic Analysis.
We will also feature a panel on health, data and privacy issues relating to pharma and competition, chaired by Mark, and another chaired by David Giardina from Sidley Austin LLP (including my colleague Sheng Li as a panelist) focused on biologic competition.
While I will miss seeing everyone in person, the good thing about being virtual is that no matter where you are in the world, it's not too late to register and attend. I hope to see you in Zoom tomorrow!
