As an executive recruiter, I want to remind you that my job is to get my clients the right candidate, not to get a candidate a job. That is what a staffing agency is for. I have clients who pay me as a recruiter to find them the exact talent they need. This role is for sales reps who have already been Territory Managers or have sold expensive capital equipment to private businesses or physicians' offices, not into hospitals but to actual private physician offices. This is for aesthetic laser or device sales reps who are ready for a promotion to this title. If you only have experience selling to a hospital where the doctor does not personally have to pay for the device you are selling, it is tough to get hired for this role. Sometimes, although it is rare, a client will consider experienced capital sales reps from outside the aesthetics industry, such as medical equipment sales, dental sales etc., for this role. In my experience, I have yet to place a hospital sales rep as an ASM. You would have to be closing your own deals and have significant numbers of sales, such as over $2M annually, to be considered for this title of Area Sales Manager. My clients want top TMs from competitors (newer to the industry and hungry) or ASMs stuck with no mobility. Will not consider industry veterans with 5 companies in 10 years and no P-club awards. Will consider: Aesthetic sales non-capital equipment sales reps with documented presidents club awards Dental sales with P-club awards Surgical B2B sales with awards (not OR sales) Ophthalmology/Urology sales with awards

Dear Medical Sales Recruiters, I recently had the privilege of joining a successful Foot and Ankle surgeon in the OR for a day of shadowing cases, during which I had the opportunity to closely interact with the Med Device rep servicing the operation. It was an incredible opportunity. So, how did this opportunity come about for me? I created my own luck by building, fostering, and maintaining a relationship with, you guessed it, a surgeon. Months ago, I made a connection with this surgeon in the ER, and since then, I've been able to cultivate and nurture the relationship. It turns out that being proactive, hardworking, positive, charismatic, empathetic, and curious pays off eventually. As our friendship grew, so did his trust in me. By consistently showing up every day as the same positive hard worker he knew, he began to invest in me. And as our friendship developed, he was willing to place his bets on me. The result? Mentorship. The fruit? The relationship. The opportunity? Only time can tell. But one thing I do know for sure: If a Med Device Sales APPLICANT can sneak his way into an OR on a surgeon's formal invitation, chances are he will have no problem doing so as a full-line rep one day when he gets his shot in the industry. Dear Medical Sales Recruiters, As a prospective applicant, I would like to share with you a recent story of how I am embodying the common Med Device Maxim of "Do the Job to Get the Job." Recently, I had the honor of attending a cadaver lab at The Ohio State University while shadowing one of the top companies within the medical device orthopedics space. This opportunity became available to me after networking on LinkedIn, making a connection, and accepting the invitation from one of the team's representatives who generously extended the invitation. After spending the day with the team and not just showing up early but exuding a helpful curiosity and blending in like a chameleon, the team took a liking to me and extended an invitation to remain in contact as future opportunities naturally surface. Seed planted. Within the Medical Device Industry, I can only imagine that you do not always "close the deal" on your first encounter. Similarly, I was not offered a position on the spot during my first meetup with this company. However, the eventual big deal, new account, or territory expansion is a manifestation of months, and sometimes years, of developing, growing, and maintaining relationships. Fruit to harvest. So, although today I continue my search for the job of my dreams, an opportunity to "Make an Impact Through Action," a CHANCE to provide value; my medical device journey has already begun. I have seeds to tend and a vast field of "Relationships" to sow. The job has already started, and one day when I finally land a position with the right lucky company, it will be time to reap the fruits of my labor.
