ALL ABOARD: Today’s the big day! The new Amtrak Borealis train service will make its inaugural trip across Minnesota, Wisconsin and Illinois. It’s a historic event for Wisconsin as it’s been 22 years since passenger rail has been expanded in the state.
The state-sponsored train service doubles passenger rail options connecting Wisconsin communities to the Twin Cities and Chicago. On its daily round trip route, Borealis serves eight Wisconsin train stations: La Crosse, Tomah, Wisconsin Dells, Portage, Columbus, Milwaukee, the Milwaukee airport, and Sturtevant. Celebration events will take place at most of these stops today.
