Delete it? Destroy it? Anonymise it? Data protection law tells us we must not keep personal data for longer than necessary for the purposes it was collected for. Sounds easy doesn't it? But in practice one of the more challenging principles to uphold. First we need a policy, and most importantly retention schedules which set out how long different datasets should, or must be kept for. Then we actually need to have a robust plan and the technical capability to get rid of data or anonymise it.
