“Starting over” may be a scary option but it was the best career, financial, and personal move for my family and I at the time. Trusted advisors told me to change industries and they were right. They told me success in my last career was good, but they challenged me to be great in a different industry. They also reminded me to trust God, give it your best every day, and never settle. Thank you Dick Lee who is now in heaven as well as Richard Bradley and Jim Warren. #thankyou

There are no limits to starting over? No matter what you’re struggling with—addiction, relationships, impulsivity, layoffs, divorce, other mental health issues—take my advice. You Can Start Over. Starting over means that you’re determined to get better. It means you’re able to recognize you screwed up, and you’re going to do something about it. It means you’re taking responsibility, and you’re going to put your best foot forward. Starting over means that you got up off the ground, dusted off your hands, and put yourself back on the path to where you want to go. It doesn’t matter how many times you have to start over, as long as you start over. So get up off the ground and walk that road, no matter how long you spent walking it the first, second, or tenth time. Just remember you are not starting from scratch; you are starting from experience. Darrin, very well said! I started over in a career that I thought I had no chance of getting into. Through God opening some doors He gave me the courage to make a change, a change that literally changed my life and put us on a different trajectory. Following God’s guidance is always the best choice. Congratulations!

I understand your comments. I will never forget and always appreciate the experience I received working with you at Marvin's but starting over in a totally different field of work was also the best thing to happen to me. I was encouraged to go back to school and "reinvent" myself which I did. At the time I could not imagine myself in any field outside of retail, I did not think I could do anything else. I was wrong. I have encouraged my children and grandchildren to believe in themselves, step out on faith and try to find the career that makes them happy. It would not be believable if I had not had to do that myself first.

Stay Well Buddy!
