Davos in the Desert is proud to have run a very informative podcast on The World Health Organization's Power Grab. This highly insightful session discusses the policies the World Health Organization is pursuing to control many aspects of the worldwide populace’s daily lives. Inasmuch as can be determined, the WHO is preparing to dictate which drugs should be administered and which medicines doctors will be forbidden to prescribe. The WHO is developing policies with respect to vaccine passports, quarantining, requiring states to surveil their media and proscribing border closures. The WHO (together with the United Nations) wants to have wide latitude to declare a health risk—so-called Climate Change, racism, global inequality and developments occurring in outer space are being teed up as pretenses to implement global authoritarian practices. Dr. Nass discusses how the WHO is degrading humans to the level of animals and plants in its self-proclaimed stewardship of the Earth. She talks about how 85% of the WHO’s budget is privately funded, and therefore beholden to individuals, businesses and foundations who look at the WHO as a conduit to implement their own self-serving policies. Dr. Nass sheds light on consequences countries may face for failing to comply with WHO mandates and illuminates the fact that countries that adopt WHO mandates will be locked in the WHO framework for at least three years. This week the European Commission adopted a communication regarding the European Health Union. This document comprehensively covers the major challenges faced by the European healthcare (eco)system: from the need to reinforce EU's #healthsecurity framework through enhance cooperation between national agencies and the creation of the Emergency and Preparedness and Response Authority (HERA), to ensuring #universalaccess to healthcare and medicines and securing #patientsafety; from embedding #mentalhealth into its policies, fostering approaches that truly favour the World Health Organization's biopsychosocial model of health, to recognising the link between human, animal and environmental health (#onehealth). Moreover, it is evident to me - but I'm bias on these particular aspects - that key policies have been developed and important resources have been allocated to #digitalhealth and #healthresearch , particularly in the field of #cancer, which are likely to make Europe a world leader in the fields of #cancerresearch, #cancertreatment and #digitalisation. As we approach the election period for the European Parliament, I personally find Healthcare to be one of the areas that has undergone more progress and investment, mostly thanks to the vision and leadership of Commissioner Stella Kyriakides. May this serve as an example of how the EU, although far from being perfect, remains an idea that deserves to be nourished and strongly supported in its founding principles.

<2024 Global Health 6 Major Issues Forecast and Analysis> 📢 Issue Three: The Competition between the Pandemic Accord and Other Health Challenges During the WHA sessions in 2021 and 2022, the WHO Pandemic Agreement, which achieved a high level of consensus among member states, along with the amendments to the International Health Regulation, are expected to present their negotiation results in 2024, and are anticipated to be passed in this year's WHA. However, in the current Executive Board session, Dr. Tedros, the WHO Director-General, pointed out that the negotiations for the WHO Pandemic Agreement and the amendments to the International Health Regulation continue to suffer from attacks of misinformation, being slandered as conspiracies to seize national sovereignty, control public behavior. Both of the chairs of the working groups also stated that as countries begin to treat COVID-19 as a common cold, the window for negotiations are diminishing. This is because nations are gradually shifting resources to other issues such as climate change, war, cancer, etc., increasing the difficulty of negotiations. With only two meetings left before the WHA, if countries cannot reach a basic consensus on key clauses, it may not be possible to present a version for approval at this year's WHA. In that case, according to relevant regulations, the working groups might face challenges such as restructuring and renegotiation, making the adoption of the Pandemic Agreement even more uncertain. *This series, co-authored with my colleagues, was initially published in Mandarin.
