Vice President, Pfizer Inc and Executive Director, The Pfizer Foundation - Improving the Health of People Around the World through Big Thinking, Bold Partnerships and Sustainable Global Health Solutions
This morning I joined Irene Atuhairwe Naveen Rao and Dr. Mayesha A. on the sidelines of WHA to talk climate, health, and financing. As with most conversations in Geneva this week, it's tough to do it justice in a social post, but here are a few key takeaways from our discussion... ⛑️ As Irene stated so clearly, community health workers are our first line of defense against climate's threat to health and we must invest accordingly. ✅ We can't "future-proof" our health systems if they aren't yet today-proof. That means investing in the basic, foundational components of health systems now so we can respond to health threats both today and tomorrow. 💡Innovation isn't just about medicines and vaccines. Innovation is creative financing mechanisms; bold and integrated health strategies; and responsive, real-time solutions for giving health care workers the resources they need. 🌟 H.E. Minister Chiponda and Loyce Pace are a tough act to follow. Thank you to Foreign Policy for hosting us at their inaugural Global Health Forum, to Seed Global Health for inviting us into the dialogue, and to all the participants who made time during a busy week to join and connect.

Thank you Darren Back for sharing these insights! Your emphasis on ensuring health systems are "today-proof" before they can be "future-proof" is a powerful reminder. We need strong foundational health systems now to tackle current and future challenges effectively.
