We’ve just launched our newest TikTok series, Off the Record, featuring some of the biggest artists on the platform. This new series showcases the creative process behind some of this year’s albums to give fans an inside look into the world of these artists. Off the Record expands TikTok’s music ecosystem to include the creative ideation process.
In 2023, Latin music generated over $1.1B in revenue in the US, but music platforms and initiatives are still behind on the integration of Latin artists to general market programs. Meanwhile, of the six Off the Record artists, two of them are Latin - Shakira and Peso Pluma (Spanish-language music).
Stay tuned to see their Off the Record series later this month - only on TikTok.

Viral TikTok dance videos will never be the same now TikTok mutes music from previously posted videos that contained music from Universal Music Group.
In addition to the unsatisfactory payment for artists, Universal Music Group also cites to the flood of AI-generated music on TikTok as the reason for the breakdown between the two companies.
Is AI-generated music a sufficient substitute for human-generated music in TikTok videos? Send me your best examples!

A key part of developing a brand in music that is overlooked by many bands is "the superfan". The real, core engaged ones who buy everything and drive hundreds of miles to come to each show. You cultivate enough superfans invested in the success of your band and over time, person by person what you end up with is an incredibly effective volunteer marketing team who together can help things snowball. But to cultivate superfans you need more than the music alone, you need to make them feel like they are part of something.....To adapt a term of the youff of today, you need to make yourself "fandom worthy".
Which means you can't go around being pretentious and snobby and saying "the music speaks for itself I don't need an image or brand or social media strategy, I'll just stand in my t shirt and trousers and stare at my shoes looking very serious whilst I play this very technical passage because I am a Very Serious Musician".
Progressive Rock has always been a great avenue for cultivating the superfan because its complexity, fantasy based subject matters and some of the outfits and imagery associated with it are a ripe avenue for capturing imaginations. The people who loved it in the 70's seem to have carried that enthusiasm across the decades and even today it remains attractive to the "nerdy" archetype who just loves getting involved in some kind of fandom. HRH Prog brought us a whole bunch of these wonderful people and it amazes me every time when someone says theyve driven 100m from the middle of Wales or something just to see us!

Talk about super fans has never been more prominent and there's a great reason why. 🌟
In a time where music consumption habits are rapidly changing, the loyalty, enthusiasm, and yes, money, super fans bring in is invaluable.
Luminate dove in to superfan behavior as part of their annual Midyear Music Report and here's what they found 👇

EVEN makes it possible for musicians to tap into their true fan base and earning potential . One of the first conversations I have with artists that work with me is how can we increase your number of TRUE fans that will spend at least $100 / year on your music/ merch .
If you can identify and compile 300 people who will consistentially spend $10-$13 / month on your brand you will see a 30k increase in revenue in year one . EVEN makes this strategy even simpler .
This is what 24 hours on EVEN looks like for an artist with only 4K followers on Instagram and 3K Monthly Listeners on DSPs.
He pulled in $2020 in revenue from only 37 fans. His song also only has a total of 300 streams on EVEN.
So to answer the question we get often: "Do you need a large fan base to release music on EVEN?"
The answer is NO.
