Imagine Deadpool & Wolverine sitting down having a sales conversation. I put this little script together of how I think the conversation would go. **INT. ABANDONED WAREHOUSE - DAY** *Deadpool and Wolverine sit across from each other at a makeshift table. Deadpool, in his red suit, fiddles with a katana. Wolverine, in his signature leather jacket, lights a cigar.* **Deadpool:** (grinning) So, Logan, how does a grumpy Canadian with anger issues become a top-notch salesman? **Wolverine:** (smirking) It's simple, Wade. You just gotta know your product. Like how I know how to slice and dice anyone who crosses me. **Deadpool:** (laughing) Right, right. And always be closing, huh? Like closing that wound with your healing factor. **Wolverine:** (taking a drag of his cigar) And don't forget the follow-up. Kind of like how you keep coming back from the dead, no matter how annoying you get. **Deadpool:** (mock offended) Hey, persistence is key! And if all else fails, just threaten to cut off a finger or two. Works every time. **Wolverine:** (chuckling) Dark, but effective. Just remember, it's all about charm and intimidation. Mostly intimidation. **Deadpool:** (raising his katana) To successful sales and severed limbs! **Wolverine:** (clinking his cigar against Deadpool's katana) Cheers. **FADE OUT.**

One of my favorite long-form series is Thrasher Magazine's 'My War.' It’s a masterful mix of storytelling and behind-the-scenes of incredible skateboarding tricks. These tricks are only 20-30 secs in a video part, and look effortless. You'd think they maybe took a few attempts, 15-20 minutes or so. The reality is quite different… In this case, there were 6 different trips to San Fransico, a robbery, and a filmer getting knocked out. Not to mention the skater failing, often slamming down onto the concrete, for hours at a time each of the 6 sessions. The story is told through a variety of characters. You’ve got the: •Main skater •Filmers •Manager •Teammates •Random folks watching You see someone fail for hours. Hear about the adjustments made. Learn about the physical and mental obstacles they must overcome. You learn how crucial scrappiness and creativity are. On the 6th trip, the ground was wet and they used cat litter to dry it. Creative! When the main character finally rolls away, often bruised and bloody but not defeated, wow what a payoff. The result isn't a skateboarding story; it's a human story. It's a video that transcends the sport and appeals to a broad audience. Best of all, it's a consistently winning and repeatable format.
