Celebrating victories for the week: My current work portfolio is vast and diverse. From marketing and brand strategies for my department, website optimization, forging stakeholder relationships, social media management, content creation (hence the camera in this shot below 😉), events management, all the way to designing marketing collateral. Prioritizing my work accordingly and overcoming red tape can be challenging, but I'm the type of person that gets things done ✔️. So in order to ensure my efficiency, I need to teach myself and perfect new skills every now and then. So this week, I am celebrating a victory in graphic design, a skill I learnt earlier in the year but have dreaded due to my perfectionism syndrome… (story for another day). I took some time to acknowledge how my design output has drastically improved in quality, quantity, and time taken to complete so as I wrap up the week, I celebrate this milestone. Last week in our company MGID, we had a birthday celebration. While we couldn't gather and celebrate loudly offline, thanks to our HR team and teambuilding.com company (Michael Alexis and Tasia Duske), along with our host Nate, we had a fantastic online team-building event. We divided into teams; for instance, ours was named Ad Octopus. So, one of the tasks our team had to accomplish was to visit the website https://lnkd.in/dyMr-Hz7 and generate a word. Each team member then had to explain it to their team using only geometric terms (circle, square, line, etc.). General terms like "draw a cat" or "draw a car" were not allowed, and hand motions couldn't be used to assist. The more words guessed, the better. And of course, there were many other interesting activities! Time passed quite quickly. I'm glad there was an opportunity, even in this format, to spend time with colleagues from different departments. P.S. And when we were asked after the team-building, "What is Ad Octopus?" I'll reveal the secret to you: "Ad" stands for advertising, and "octopus" because we have enough products in the company, just like the tentacles of an octopus, to cover your monetization needs. What a #madfest extravaganza! A wild mix of thought-leadership, wacky innovation, networking and partying that left me doubling up my daily movement goal of 10K steps/day. Loved Liquid Death’s masterclass on how to create space in a saturated water category by behaving like a beer brand, Who Gives A Crap that toilet paper can actually be an interior design item, Mars Mitch Oliver closing recommending Marketers to “Do what’s right, not what’s popular” and of course my absolute favourite Rory Sutherland setting things straight on the Speed-fetishism in modern #marketing. Overall, my takeaway: 1.
