We are planning to open an inpatient mental health center at our St. Paul hospital in 2022. Our inpatient unit will be the first in the east metro to serve kids under 12 years old, and one of few to admit all kids, even those with other complex medical conditions. Hear from Dr. Marc Gorelick, president and CEO, Office of Governor Tim Walz & Lt. Governor Peggy Flanagan, Melvin W. Carter III and Sue Abderholden, executive director of NAMI Minnesota: https://lnkd.in/ey47DFUZ

Hard conversations are never easy—it’s a commitment and a practice to choose courage over comfort. On “Dare to Lead” this week we talk about the Engaged Feedback Checklist: the primary tool we use to build a daring feedback practice. https://spoti.fi/3m1L30j 9/29 EDIT: By “unsurface” we mean unearth or surface, but we can’t change the image, so there’s no undo for unsurface. #imperfect

Racist behavior is embedded in our society both structurally and philosophically. The call to action after the recent murders of Ahmaud Arbery and George Floyd must also be embedded in our response both structurally and philosophically. “Doing something now” isn’t enough. We have to become people who will not tolerate living in a society who ignores or gets over this easily. We also have to create environments where this does not occur, take root, or flourish. I continue to commit to this work. Rest In Peace Ahmaud Arbery and George Floyd.
