Google's $1 billion investment in Pacific connectivity is a major milestone in bridging the digital divide and fostering a more connected world. This initiative not only strengthens infrastructure but also holds the promise of transforming lives and economies across the Pacific region. As we move towards an increasingly digital future, investments like these are crucial in ensuring that everyone can benefit from the opportunities that connectivity brings. “In partnership with Governor Green’s administration, Hawaii's Connect Kakou initiative is working to ensure people from all walks of life have reliable and affordable access to high-speed Internet. The Pacific Connect initiative perfectly complements our planned efforts, and will significantly enhance our future connections from Hawaii to the continental U.S. and Japan as well as ensure communities across the Pacific have equitable and reliable access to digital services." - Sylvia Luke, Lieutenant Governor, State of Hawaii https://lnkd.in/gp849ihX https://lnkd.in/gcUwbJs7 Amanda Stange Jen Stanley Reymund Dumlao Jamar Thomas Sandeep Togrikar Steve Lujan Christopher Hein

Reliable, resilient digital connectivity is foundational for technological innovation today, which is why we’re pleased to continue to cement Google’s #Japan Digital Initiative through a new $1 billion investment to enhance connectivity across the Pacific including two subsea cables. Proa (named after the traditional sailing canoes of the Marianas) and Taihei (the Japanese word for “peace” and “Pacific Ocean”) will create better connectivity between the United States, Japan, and multiple Pacific Island countries and territories. In #Japan, studies have estimated that Google’s network infrastructure investments drove an additional $400+ million in GDP in the last decade. With better access to digital services, people can develop their skills for more career opportunities — while businesses and public sector organisations can better serve their customers and constituents. This effort would not have been possible without the collaboration of partners including NEC, KDDI Corporation, ARTERIA, CITADEL Pacific Ltd., State of Hawaii, and the Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands (CNMI). Thank you for your continued partnership and commitments to reducing the digital divide across the Pacific. For more details on this initiative, take a look here: https://lnkd.in/gtm5K-8T

#bomdia We've got new low-latency, diverse routes to/in Brazil. Increasing network access in Brazil would bring several benefits to end-users across the country. Here are the top three: 1. Improved Connectivity: More network access means improved connectivity for end-users, enabling them to stay connected to the internet, access online services, and communicate with others more easily. This could lead to enhanced opportunities for education, employment, and social interaction, particularly in remote or underserved areas where internet access is limited. 2. Access to Information and Services: With increased network access, end-users gain access to a wealth of information and services available online. They can access educational resources, healthcare information, government services, e-commerce platforms, and entertainment content, enriching their lives and empowering them to make informed decisions and engage more fully in society. 3. Economic Opportunities: Expanded network access can stimulate economic growth by creating opportunities for entrepreneurship, innovation, and digital commerce. End-users can start online businesses, participate in the digital economy, and access remote work opportunities, regardless of their location. This can contribute to poverty reduction, job creation, and overall economic development in Brazil. Overall, more network access in Brazil has the potential to empower end-users, improve their quality of life, and drive socio-economic progress across the country.
