🏛 It was lovely to be back at the European Bioinformatics Institute | EMBL-EBI and celebrate "Fifty Years of Bioinformatics" with Professor Dame Janet Thornton (who supervised my PhD, some people call her the "grandmother of bioinformatics") and Roman Laskowski (and absolute legend in computational protein structure prediction). 🤩 I am honoured that Janet gave me the opportunity to speak at this symposium on the occasion of her retirement. I talked about #epigenetics and #biomarkers of #ageing, as well as my journey with Hurdle as a #startup founder. 👩🔬 I was inspired by the community of scientists that Janet has mentored over her incredible career (many whom I had the pleasure to share the lab with) as well as all the progress we have made in leveraging computational tools to understand protein structure, enzyme mechanisms and the biology of ageing. 💻 To many more years of #bioinformatics research!
