Financing for the construction of a 220 MW solar PV and 1.24 GWh of battery energy storage system (BESS) project in Chile🎉

The ORLEN S.A. and Northland Power Inc. have entered into €4.4 billion credit facility agreements to finance their joint Baltic Power project, the first #offshorewind farm to be constructed in the Polish waters of the Baltic Sea.   The project will consist of 76 wind turbines each with a height of over 200 meters and will provide clean energy to more than 1.5 million households from 2026.   BNP Paribas is pleased to contribute to its success alongside other financial institutions, acting as Mandated Lead Arranger, Pre-Hedging Bank, Hedge Coordinator and Hedging Bank.   This transaction is the result of the strong local knowledge and support of the teams across BNP Paribas Bank Polska, BNP Paribas Canada, and of the significant renewable energy expertise of the #BNPParibasLowCarbonTransitionGroup and #BNPPRealAssets teams. DRI CEO, John Stuart, spoke to PFI part of LSEG (London Stock Exchange Group) last week about DRI’s strategy on merchant vs offtake, and financing its renewable energy and battery storage projects in Europe. “Our strategy is to always back our projects with long-term project financing.” [...] "Overall, DRI will look at signing long-term offtakes for all its projects, either through state support programmes or corporate PPAs. We can still go merchant, if possible, but it is better for project bankability to have long-lasting revenue streams," Stuart said. John also spoke about our projects in operation, in development, and in the pipeline for Croatia, Italy, Poland and Romania. All these are part of our company's mission to accelerate the energy transition in Europe. DRI aims to have portfolio of 5GW renewable generation and storage by 2028. Foresight Solar Fund (FSFL) Ltd (LSE:FSFL) announced the sale of a 50% stake in its Lorca portfolio, in #Spain, in a deal worth €26.9 million which the company said was a 21% premium. Proceeds are earmarked for debt repayment. It will be used fully to further pay down a variable rate revolving credit facility to lower gearing and reduce interest costs. #ForesightSolar noted, meanwhile, that talks are also advancing over a potential sale of some 200MW of operational assets, and this process is expected to continue into 2024. "After a comprehensive analysis of our portfolio, we concluded these assets were the ideal option to start our divestment process,” said #ForesightSolarFund chair Alexander Ohlsson.
