Here to write. If it goes viral, it's not because of me. It's because it's true.

10 Signs of Awesome Company Culture: 1. Your boss excitedly tells your team she's taking her son to football practice early on Wednesday afternoons. 2. You hear laughter, often. 3. Innovation and failures are welcomed, not feared. 4. The company handbook is written in simple, plain language. 5. Your colleagues come from different backgrounds and nationalities. 6. Meetings start on time. 7. Your kids are welcome to drop-in at any time. 8. You're rarely the smartest person in a meeting. 9. Gossip is shut down quickly. 10. You're trusted to work from home. Company culture isn't a sentence you write in your employee handbook. It's how your team behaves when no-one's looking. Your strategy might be perfect, but without the right culture, you're dead. What would you add? 👇🏼

I would add: management doesn’t degrade employees, and knows how to communicate without sarcasm. PTO is encouraged for all employees, and is respected.

Gossip is shut down quickly - I think people don’t gossip in a good culture because things are clear enough no one is trying to guess what’s happening. Meetings start on time - how is that a reliable indicator of a good culture? IMO in a good culture you either come to a conclusion or you have a heated debate with a number of points of view that no one is afraid to voice even if a decision is made not in favour of those points. Furthermore if a decision is made people don’t fully align with they still go all in because there’s a sense of trust supported by a proven ability of leadership to take responsibility and change course when needed. How is laughter a true indicator of a good culture? If people say “i am slow because i have not had coffee yet” and everyone laughs because that’s just an expected thing to do. Is not a better indicator that people different people volunteer to help others without feeling jeopardised if they don’t complete 100% of their job duties because they see someone struggle or because they recognize the importance of work of another person? Thank you for raising these items. I feel there is a lot that can be added to the list

Certainly! Here is the additional points: -Constructive feedback is encouraged and used as a tool for individual and collective professional growth. -Encouraging open and honest communication, where employees feel comfortable expressing their opinions, receiving constructive feedback, and actively contributing to team development, is essential to strengthen organizational culture. Transparent and respectful dialogue promotes continuous learning, innovation, and the strengthening of bonds among team members.

Come on, you've got to have office gossip. It's like watching TV soap without entering the shower. People from diverse backgrounds tend to add humanity to the intangible ecosystem. You can't fight innate qualities. Oh, No.4! Surely, a mature establishment doesn't have a handbook at all. Its employees levitate in a Utopian state, so why do you need anything formal to define the parameters of engagement? Apologies, if I didn't add any other items of interest but merely gave a couple of them a twist for some zest. 😁

Culture eats strategy for lunch. Without establishing a great culture, a strategy will remain on paper. Great company culture also encourages continuous learning and celebrates small wins. When employees feel supported and recognized, it creates a motivated team.

You’re encouraged to learn with purpose and apply your knowledge. You’re free to speak your mind without fear of judgment. You’re invited to collaborate openly with subject matter experts without barriers. You’re provided with the right tools and training to enhance your efficiency. Your limitations are transformed into strengths. You're treated with kindness when faced with personal crises. Your mental well-being is one of the top priorities.

Your work environment is flexible enough to account for emergencies. After all, no one plans those... And if you must miss an important meeting, there's someone else who can and will step in if necessary, and copies you on any notes taken/emails sent so you are not out of the loop...
