“The biggest stunt in cinema history.” That’s what Wade Eastwood (stunt director) said about the scene where Tom Cruise jumps off a cliff in Norway in the film Mission Impossible – Dead Reckoning. Did you know that Tom Cruise is 61 and does all his stunts himself? Did you know that his training for the scene involved 500 skydives and more than 13,000 motor cross jumps? Did you know that when someone tells him it can’t be done, he finds other people who figure out how it can be done? Did you know that he thinks Harrison Ford (age 81) is a legend? In Tom Cruise’s words – “I’ve got 20 years to catch up with him. I hope to keep making mission impossible movies till his age.” Tom Cruise, for me, is goals in dreaming big, ideating and most importantly, persevering towards making it happen. And age doesn’t hold him back. So whatever age you are at, here’s your sign to make things happen. I am 45 right now, and I am eager to see what life brings me tomorrow and when I am in my 60s. It doesn't matter where you are in your journey. What matters is if you're putting in the effort to make your mission possible. #noagebar #growth #success #workhard

Understanding others. It’s key to what we do. As it’s Oscars season, it’s a great opportunity to talk about the power of film to help experience the slings and arrows of life for someone outside your bubble. Some great examples of realistic 'slice of life' films that have stayed with me: Another Year (a Mike Leigh classic, watch it for Lesley Manville’s incredible performance) I, Daniel Blake (the moments of kindness amongst the tragic story moved me to tears) Riff Raff (another Ken Loach classic that opens your eyes to ‘modern’ Britain through the eyes of jobbing construction workers) Boiling Point (incredible insight into the hospitality industry in a single take) Nomadland (the backstory is as fascinating as the actual story) Ellie Parker (Naomi Watts jumps in and out of characters as she brings to life the struggle of trying to make it as an actor) This is England (almost everything by Shane Meadows could be on this list) Belfast (experiencing The Troubles through the eyes of a 9 year old) Before Sunrise/Sunset/Midnight (every chapter resonates) Small Axe / Mangrove (Steve McQueen makes you feel as upset as his marginalised & oppressed characters) Which other films get you closer to different audiences? The latest cruise ship trend, Drag Queen residency, has been reported in Cruise Critic. This trend gained additional momentum when Scarlet Lady, the first ship in Virgin Voyages fleet, announced that Drag Queens will take up residence at the ship's Razzle Dazzle restaurant during a fun brunch experience.   TBI worked with a talented group of Drag Queens during our New Years Eve production shown in the UK on ITV. The Barbie themed act received huge acclaim. Featuring Kitty Scott-Claus, Baga Chipz, Cheryl Hole, Tayce.    TBI’s advice is that Creative Director and Show Producers should start to follow some guidelines to get the best from this genre of performance. It starts with drag, but the show can be much more than that:   1) First impressions, allow ample hair and make-up and hair prep. 2) Wardrobe, costume changes add glamour and interest. 3) Story, create a story arc for the performance. 4) Individualism, each artist is unique, build show stopping moments where each performer has the chance to shine. 5) Comedy, including sarcasm, is a must. 6)Variety counts, spoken word, music, and dance.
