Those who thought that conventional wars were a thing of the past and still didn't learn from the Russia-Ukraine War and the Israel-Hamas War, will now learn in the years ahead. Since then, 20 more countries have joined #NATO through 10 rounds of enlargement—in 1952, 1955, 1982, 1999, 2004, 2009, 2017, 2020, 2023—and most recently 2024, when Sweden becomes the thirty-second member country: NATO ally. 2024 also marks the twenty-fifth anniversary since Czechia, Slovakia, Hungary and Poland joined other sovereign states willing to come together through NATO to discuss political and security issues and make collective decisions by consensus. Supranational organisations remind us that #LeadershipMatters because peace, security and freedom are achievable not because we dare, or deign, to face conflict down the barrel of a gun; but because we face disagreements and challenges together with shared humanity. 📣 Today we all mark a significant milestone as Sweden officially became NATO’s newest member, upon depositing its instrument of accession to the North Atlantic Treaty with the Government of the United States in Washington DC. With this development, NATO now counts 32 countries among its members. Sweden's decision to join NATO shows its commitment to collective security and defense cooperation. This expansion strengthens indeed NATO's capabilities and resilience in addressing European and global security challenges. But we have to take action. NATO can't be the only answer, and the latest comments of the candidate to the US precidency Donald Trump showed that. Let's use this moment to act. He clearly can’t rule at all’: ‘PLEASE SHARE: Since russia began their failed invasion of Ukraine, one member (Armenia) has suspended their participation in russia´s equivalent of NATO called the CTSO, (Collective Security Treaty Organization) so russias alliance now only includes 5 countries russia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan. At the same time NATO has welcomed 2 powerful military nations into the alliance. Finland has the biggest artillery setup in Europe, a fighting force which will reach +900.000 in 14 days if the reserves are called in and in general the Finnish Military is a professional and well trained and highly motivated fighting force. Sweden adds a very strong airforce, submarines and a military industrial setup in the absolute top.
