*Retired* ex-Meta Reality Labs/ex-IBM Research/ex-Digital/ex-Sematech

A turning point... July 5th is my personal “independence day". It marks a turning point, as I transition from managing a work-life balance to a full time focus on life. It is the day that I begin my adventure in retirement, where I intend to: * forget my meeting schedule; my passwords; the day of the week; the time of day * begin to do whatever inspires me in the moment (traveling, exploring, hiking, biking, fishing, golfing, volunteering, reading, creating, enjoying lots of time with family and friends) I have been privileged and honored to work alongside the best people in the ARVR and Semiconductor industries. All of you have inspired me throughout our journey of discovering and delivering leading edge technologies. I will miss our day-to-day head scratching and epiphanies and I have the utmost confidence that you will continue to be successful in delivering kick-ass products that make the world a better place! I wish you all continued success on your journey!! #ar #arvr #semiconductor #lithography #meta #realitylab #metarl #ibm #ibmresearch #digital #digitalsemiconductor #dec #sematech #mitlincolnlab #mitll #asml #nikon #canon #tel #jsr #synopsys #kla

Congratulations, Dan! I left earlier this year. I was recently at a dinner with members of my last department in East FishkillI, 3 of whom are now retired. I asked the question “what will be the biggest change in retirement?”.. The answer given was I think a perfect reflection on the pressures associated with doing what we’ve accomplished. The answer was…..Sunday nights. No more worrying about Monday mornings and presentations, operational or development issues, etc. A peace settles in when you realize that indeed now every night is Friday night and every morning is Saturday morning. Hopefully, we will get a chance to get together and toast the jobs well done, mentoring and inspiring of others, and developing a group of friends along the way. Best wishes for whatever comes next….give me a call sometime soon. My calendar is open…LOL

Congrats on your retirement! We both have spent some sleepless nights working on projects. Enjoy your retirement and I hope any sleepless nights are due to jet-lag from traveling on new retirement adventures. I also hope they will involve a bit of fishing.
