We are excited to celebrate the 108th Running of the Indianapolis 500 this weekend and we wanted to share a great history of D-A Lubricant Company®! Did you know we were involved in IndyCar for three years in the mid-1950s? The father of one of our customers was an Indy 500 crew chief in the ‘50s and worked on D-A Lubricant-sponsored cars. Not only was his father involved, but he was also with him in the pit, working side by side at “The Greatest Spectacle in Racing.” Here are some photos from that time in D-A Lubricant history in honor of the race on Sunday!

This weekend marks the 92nd running of the 24 Hours of Le Mans, with 62 cars competing across three different classes. The lineup includes 15 types of cars, 14 car manufacturers, and over 30 different teams. There will be plenty of action across the 3 different classes of Hypercar, LMP2, and LMGT3. Most of the excitement and attention centers on the Hypercar class, which sees the return of Cadillac. American car enthusiasts are excited as Cadillac will be the only American manufacturer competing in the class this year. I’ll be watching intermittently, but I won’t be watching any specific class. I don’t have a horse in the race, but I enjoy the race for its history and importance in motorsports. Winning this race is one of the requirements for drivers to claim the unofficial Triple Crown of Motorsports. This prestigious achievement, only claimed by Graham Hill, requires winning at the Monaco Grand Prix (F1), Indianapolis 500 (Indycar), and 24 Hours of Le Mans (WEC). Who are you cheering for this year? Is there a specific class, team, or manufacturer you’re interested in? #24hoursoflemans #motorsport #cadillac

Plymouth completely redesigned the Belvedere/Satellite/Road Runner series for 1971 with a handsome fuselage theme. The coupes and hardtops were now quite different from the more conventional sedans and wagons. The two-doors had a low recessed grille surrounded by a loop bumper, flared fenders and a high trunk. 1971 Plymouth Road Runners could be recognized by the “ladder stripe” running down the C-pillars. The new Road Runner Hardtop was shorter, but the wheelbase was longer. Performance was being eroded by insurance rates and emissions issues, and this would be the last year for the high-powered engines. The muscle car party coming to an end, and there were no more Superbirds no convertibles, while the Road Runner and GTX were limited to just one Hardtop model each. Plymouth sold 651,812 units in 1971, nine percent less than 1970, while the industry rose 31 percent overall. As a result, the division dropped from third to sixth place nationally. On a brighter note, Richard Petty came back to drive his signature #43 blue Hemi Road Runner and won his 3rd NASCAR Grand National Championship. Checkout this beauty we appraised for a client. #mopar #musclecars #cars #vintagemopar #roadrunner #americanmusclecar #plymouth #classiccars #classicarvalue #carappraiser #vintagecars #plymouthmusclecar

The 108th Indy 500 is just a few days away. But did you know...? • The polesitter has gone on to win on 21 different occasions, more so than any other grid slot. • Having said that, pole can also prove a poisoned chalice. Rex Mays for example claimed pole four times between 1935 and 1948, but did no better than 2nd in 12 attempts. • There have only been FIVE consecutive race winners in Indy 500 history, the most recent being Hélio Castroneves in 2001 and 2002. And to-date, no driver has won the Indy 500 three times in succession. • Oh, and, good news for Scott McLaughlin! No.3 has taken more Indy 500 wins – 11 – than any other car number. 📸 INDYCAR Check out more 'did you know' facts about the Indy 500 in an article I wrote for Driving.ca a few years ago. 🏎️ #Indy500 #IndyCar #motorsport #motorracing #DidYouKnow #ThrowbackThursday #TBT #Pennzoil

𝐂𝐚𝐫𝐬 𝐟𝐚𝐬𝐭𝐞𝐫 𝐭𝐡𝐚𝐧 𝐩𝐥𝐚𝐧𝐞𝐬?✈️ Fun fact. Did you know that the top speed of a NASCAR car can exceed 200 miles per hour, faster than the average commercial airplane takeoff speed? The record for the fastest top speed in a NASCAR race weekend stands at 212 mph (341 kph), set by Bill Elliott at Talladega in 1987 during the qualifying rounds. Commercial planes typically takeoff at about 150 to 180 miles per hour (260 kph). However, these blistering speeds led to safety concerns, as cars began to literally lift off the ground (aka became airborne) under certain conditions. This lead to NASCAR implementing restrictor plates at the high-speed tracks of Daytona International Speedway and Talladega to reduce speeds, (notably after Bobby Allison's dramatic crash at the 1987 Winston 500). Still the races are heart thumping events. So will you be at Daytona or watching the race this weekend? 🏁 #daytona500 #motorsports #sports #cars #aircraft #speed

It is interesting to compare Indy, NASCAR and Formula 1 as all three series have a strong foothold in the USA. Almost 77 % of the partners in #IndyCar 2023 are American companies. In Formula 1 almost 36 % of the partners are American companies. That is the highest number ever. In NASCAR 86 % of the partners are American🇺🇸🇺🇸 #f12023 #NASCAR

Have you ever experienced the thrill of a NASCAR race? If not, it's an event that should be on everyone's bucket list. The sound of 40 800 horsepower machines racing at 150+ miles per hour is simply thunderous. The vibrating speed and smell of fuel make it a multi-sensory experience like no other. I've been lucky enough to attend around 10 races, but this time was unique as I got to capture some amazing content. Have you been to a NASCAR race before? Share your experiences in the comments! #NASCAR #Racing #BucketListExperience

The message displayed to consumers visiting the Northwest Motorsports website reads... "Northwest Motorsport Guests, Thank you for your business and interest in our dealership. After thoughtful consideration and evaluation of today's pre-owned vehicle market conditions, we have decided to close operations at Northwest Motorsport, effective January 23, 2024. If you have any questions or need assistance, please email contact@nwmsrocks.com or call 253-604-7441." I'm wondering; in light of limited used car inventory, inflated inventory costs, and high interest rates, what levers can dealerships pull to successfully navigate "today's pre-owned vehicle market conditions?"
