🔍 Daniel Steinberg, a pioneer in lipidology, emphasizes the importance of early and aggressive intervention to prevent atherosclerosis. 💔 Lowering LDL cholesterol (LDL-C) is key, with evidence supporting that even very low levels do not pose increased risks. 📉 Steinberg suggests aiming for LDL-C levels below 55–70 mg/dL, starting as early in life as possible. The goal is to eliminate most adverse consequences of atherosclerosis and make it a rare disease. 🎯💙 💊 Lipid-lowering medications are safe, cost-effective, and highly efficacious. Steinberg urges a shift in mindset to prioritize preventing atherosclerosis-related diseases, which contribute significantly to global mortality and morbidity. 🔄 Let's make atherosclerosis a rare disease! Early intervention is the key to a healthier future. 🩺💪 https://lnkd.in/eZ9nyVBa

🧬TNF (Tumor Necrosis Factor) plays a significant role in autoimmune diseases by promoting inflammation. Elevated TNF levels are often associated with increased disease activity and severity in conditions like rheumatoid arthritis, Crohn's disease, and psoriasis. 🔸 Autoimmunity and TNF - In autoimmune diseases, the immune system mistakenly attacks healthy tissues, leading to inflammation. TNF contributes to this process by stimulating immune responses and promoting tissue damage. 🔸 CRP Levels - C-Reactive Protein (CRP) is a marker of inflammation in the body. Elevated CRP levels indicate increased inflammation, often reflecting disease activity in autoimmune conditions. 🔸 The Relationship - Higher TNF levels can lead to increased CRP production, reflecting the degree of inflammation and disease activity in autoimmune conditions. Monitoring both TNF and CRP levels can provide valuable insights into disease progression and response to treatment. Understanding the relationship between TNF, autoimmunity, and CRP levels can help in managing autoimmune diseases more effectively. Regular monitoring and targeted therapies can help control inflammation, improve symptoms, and enhance quality of life.💪🩺 #TNF #Autoimmunity #CRPLevels #HealthAwareness #InflammatoryMarkers #inflammation #CRP #childhoodtrauma #immunity #immunesystem

🔥 HOT TOPIC - New Episode Alert🔥 A recent study shared at The Liver Meeting by the American Association for the Study of Liver Diseases tells us that the most common type of long-lasting liver disease is expected to increase a lot in the next 25 years. This could make it tough for our healthcare systems, as predictions suggest there might be almost twice as many people with liver cancer and almost three times as many needing liver transplants by 2050. Why is this happening? Well, they point fingers at the growing numbers of obesity and diabetes. These health problems are linked to a non-alcoholic liver disease, now called metabolic dysfunction-associated steatotic liver disease or MASLD. This condition affects more than 30% of people globally. Learn more about these findings and how we can deal with this growing health challenge. 🎙️Listen to the full episode https://lnkd.in/gs3FsvRy 👀 Watch the episode in full https://lnkd.in/gArEJ9RK

Chronic kidney disease (CKD) is defined as abnormalities of the kidney structure or function that have persisted for more than 3 months. The disease is characterized by elevated albuminuria (albumin, or protein, found in urine) and worsened kidney function (measured by estimated glomerular filtration rate, or eGFR). Our latest paper summary ‘Safety Profile of Upadacitinib in Patients at Risk of Cardiovascular Disease: Integrated Post Hoc Analysis of the SELECT Phase III Rheumatoid Arthritis Clinical Programme’, has been uploaded on the CSF website. Fleischmann, et al. carried out an analysis of data from six Phase 3 trials in order to establish the safety profile of #Upadacitinib in the treatment of patients with #RheumatoidArthritis and increased risk of cardiovascular disease. They found that patients with an increased risk of cardiovascular disease experienced higher rates of MACE, malignancy and VTE when treated with #Upadacitinib. However, these adverse events occurred at similar rates in patients with increased risk of cardiovascular disease who were treated with #Adalimumab or #Methotrexate Don’t forget The CSF is completely free and will keep you up to date with the latest research findings in #RhematoidArthritis. https://lnkd.in/eqWb98iC
