Today marks one month since I joined VNA Health's team, and I wanted to take the time to reflect on what an incredible journey these last 30 days have been. I first started my career as a Recruiter fresh out of college, barely 23, with nothing but a general idea that my purpose in this life was to help people. This career has seen me through every stage of my early adulthood and has shepherded me from being a recent graduate to the professional I realized I became somewhere along the way. It was a tough decision to leave behind the six-year career I built in the staffing industry. Truth be told, it was more than terrifying to make a career change in the last year of my 20s - a time I'd always envisioned as the peak of a long standing, upward moving career with one stable organization. That said, when you know, you know, and I knew it was time to realign myself with that voice that had always followed me saying 'It's not your job to go out into the world and just do well: your job is to go out into the world and do good." In the last 30 days, diving into healthcare recruiting with only the sole experience of recruiting administrative and accounting professionals has been a whirlwind of learning. I've met with everything from Physical Therapists to Registered Nurses to Bereavement Counselors and I know that there is still so much more to learn about all of the facets of healthcare, home health, and hospice. Which, you would think, would be an overwhelming, mountain of a learning curve to climb. And yet, here I am, even more excited about everything else I'll get to learn in the next 30 days. I have had the absolute pleasure of working with some of the most passionate and kind-hearted individuals I've ever worked with, all towards one common goal: helping people. For the first time, my cups are full. I can't believe that it has been my job to show up to work, be kind, and be welcomed and encouraged to use my skills and mind to make a difference for our team and community. Somehow, I've found that purple squirrel we're all chasing in a workplace: somewhere where you feel valued, respected, and empowered to prioritize a healthy work-life balance. As a recruiter, it makes it a pretty easy sell whenever I talk to candidates about joining our team. Of course, life is always changing as life always does and we never know what the next 30 days will hold. What I can say, though, is that the last 30 days have been pretty great. Cheers to change, cheers to being kind, and cheers to the helpers, movers, and magic makers. I hope we can all find this in our careers ✨
