Unveiling the Benefits of Hospice Care Many families see hospice care as a last resort, a sign of defeat in the face of terminal illness. But here's the mind-blowing truth: waiting too long can actually rob patients of precious time. The average stay in hospice is under 70 days, with only 12% lasting past 180 days. Plan ahead, even when healthy. Hospice isn't just for the end; it's a subset of palliative care focused on comfort and quality of life. When a doctor certifies hospice, Medicare covers a range of services: medical, nursing, social work, even therapy. It's about dignity, support, and making informed decisions early. #HospiceTruths #UnbelievableFacts #EndOfLifeCare #HealthcareInsights https://lnkd.in/g-g4_E3p

If you are going to do an ISNP and have enough facilities in your portfolio (250 enrolled members minimum) ......................... go capitated for SNF services (Part A and B) plus a shared saving component on the reduction of Hospitalizations. Otherwise (not enough volume), negotiate a Shared Savings component along with the ffs and quality incentive payments. Better yet, invite Post Acute Collaborative Partners into your market and we will build a network of stand-alone or small chain facilities (collaborators instead of competitors) and enter into a Capitated ISNP arrangement on behalf of the network and help facilities manage the risk and create margin.

National Long-Term Care Awareness Month is observed in November every year. This month-long observance highlights the long-term care needs of men and women over the age of 65, and how they should be assisted in their daily lives. The average price of a nursing care facility is $93,000 for a semi-private room and $105,000 for a private room. Purchasing Long Term Care Insurance solves this problem. Ask me how. #longtermcareinsurance #retirementplanning #love

If you or your loved one has Medicare, this article in Forbes explains the hospice care benefit in easy-to-understand terms. The author writes, "Many studies have shown that earlier end-of-life care can have a positive impact: reduced administration of unnecessary medications, fewer hospital admissions and less depression in survivors. As a homecare nurse, I witnessed the value of hospice care. Yet, in too many cases, it was a last-minute decision and neither the patient nor the family reaped the full benefit." When trying to find caregiving help, the options can be very confusing, and depending on whether the help is medical or non-medical determines if insurance will cover the expense. Medical caregivers include nurses, physical therapists, occupational therapists, and speech therapists; they provide skilled services such as wound care, tracheotomy care, IV infusions, palliative and hospice care, etc. These services must be ordered by a doctor and are covered by insurance. Non-medical caregivers provide hands-on help with bathing, dressing, toileting, feeding, transferring/walking, errands, housekeeping, companionship, etc. These services are usually private pay, but you can also use long-term care insurance or VA Aid & Attendance benefits if applicable.
