Veteran Housing Corp demands transparency and every local, state, and federal government agency and other stakeholders MUST provide answers to questions about the housing projects that are built with government funding, subsidies, tax credits, or incentives, including the following: 1. How much funding, federal tax credits, or government benefits or incentives from all government sources did the projects receive? 2. What is the affordability period for each project? 3. What guarantees exist that tenants will not be displaced after the "affordability period expires? An issue that has been plaguing our housing stock/availability for years. I encourage all to look into this issue in hopes that a common-sense solution will be enacted allowing for a more robust, healthy housing/economic development ecosystem for all.

This is a truly incredible deep dive into the history of how Massachusetts has created a region of housing scarcity and wealth segregation through zoning over the last 50 or so years. Amy Dain digs into individual municipality policy decisions and key periods in the 1970s when things changed dramatically, setting ourselves up to become a region of race, wealth and class segregation and housing scarcity on a level we couldn't have imagined. This is well worth a read to begin to understand not only how we got here... but how we can begin to claw ourselves out of this hole and rethink our region to create a better, more equitable future Greater Boston complete with housing abundance. It's programs and initiatives like this tourism and economic development become force multipliers in improving local economies and livability factors within communities.

21 awards made nation-wide through the PRO Housing Grant, including $3.3 million for our neighbors to the north in Philadelphia. Looks like they'll use that funding towards a wide range of activities, including: -A comprehensive action plan to preserve existing affordable units -Developing Climate Resilient Design Guidelines -A pilot rehabilitation project to repair flood damage in homes -Developing local code and departmental regulations to streamline affordable housing development -A market feasibility analysis to study the optimal ratio of affordable-to-market rate unit availability Sounds like pretty great stuff, given the major housing challenges we're facing in the region.
