Both versatile and ubiquitous, the Ford Transit line is one of the most customizable commercial vehicles on the market. But when it comes to manufacturing the vehicle, its hallmark customizability can create complex production scheduling challenges, especially when unexpected events occur. Ziya Dalkılıç, a data scientist at Ford Otosan, recently shared how they're using D-Wave's annealing quantum computing technology to enhance production scheduling processes for the Ford Transit line. Working with D-Wave has helped them understand how they could rapidly reschedule production to minimize downtime, maintain efficiency and address the need for real-time decision making. The manufacturer has developed three optimization algorithms and is looking to expand optimization to upstream and downstream production lines.
