"These after-school programs are a lifeline for us, especially during that crucial window between school dismissal and when I can get home to care for them," shared Lynda Balbo, an East New York resident and a mother to three daughters who have all benefited from Cypress Hills Local Development Corporation’s (CHLDC) after school programs at PS 677. Tabitha, Lynda's eldest, was part of the program before 2020; Oriana, her second oldest, joined in 2021, while her youngest, Helen, is currently enrolled and thoroughly enjoying her time in our afterschool program. I think one of the most common misconceptions about Advancement, is that we are just #fundraising for scholarships. While that's part of what we do, we also help student organizations fundraise, provide funds for faculty projects, research support - the list is endless. So when we say your funds are helping both on campus and off - we mean it. Funds help support, not just students, but their parents and grandparents, faculty, and the Slippery Rock area community through outreach programming and other projects. Your #giving helps Slippery Rock University of Pennsylvania go above and beyond. #MakeAnImpact today and support the university community. https://lnkd.in/gh6hK692 #givingtuesday #giving #givingtuesday2023 #givingseason #givingback #makeadifference #ProudAlum
It's #GivingTuesday. #RockNation needs your support. Your donations don't just benefit our students. They touch every corner of the university community - parents, grandparents, alumni, faculty, friends, and the Slippery Rock area community. We can't do it without you! Make your gift today 👇 https://lnkd.in/eTaHmPTD Slippery Rock University of Pennsylvania #HigherEducationGiving #EducationForAll #FutureOfEducation #InvestInEducation #MakeADifference #Scholarship #FinancialAid #Endowment #CapitalCampaign #PlannedGift #College #University #CommunityCollege #Students #Faculty #Alumni #Philanthropy #Nonprofit #Charity #HigherEd #Education #Learning #School #Campus #TheRock #RockNation #RockPride #GoRock

Grateful to work for an organization Connor & Gallagher OneSource that gives back to the community. Did you know that giving can stimulate your brain's mesolimbic pathway, or what's know as the reward center. That can lead to a “helper's high” that boosts self-esteem, elevates happiness and combats feelings of depression. Consider having your organization participate in more community programs for better health & well-being. #grateful #givingbacktothecommunity #healthandwellness #wellbeing
CGO just wrapped up a successful Back-to-School Supply Drive to support Big Brothers Big Sisters of America of Will & Grundy Counties, and it's all thanks to our amazing community! ❤️👏 A huge shoutout to everyone who contributed, whether it was donating supplies, spreading the word, or showing your support. Your generosity will make a significant impact on the lives of these young students and their families. At CGO, we believe in giving back and supporting our community, and this drive was a testament to that spirit. Let's continue to make a positive difference together!

I was delighted to be invited by Teresa Jennings to talk at the launch of the Brathay Bursary last night alongside Garryck Spurgeon-Price, my friend and fellow ALP graduate. We shared our own experience of Brathay residential’s and the impact it’s had on our lives but also reflected on the importance of these experiences for young people. I’d like to share some of those reflections here… 🍃Young people today are facing extraordinary pressures. From education and employment challenges, to the impact of the cost of living crisis on their personal and family lives, and constant exposure to an evolving technological world. Outdoor residential’s provide a break away from everyday pressures or distractions, allowing young people dedicated time to focus on freedom, expression, and exploration. 🍃Spending time outdoors is proven to have both mental and physical benefits. We cannot underestimate the impact of building these connections from an early age. Ultimately this understanding comes from experience, and residential’s help children to form the habit of enjoying time outdoors. 🍃Young people are drawn to seeking risk. This is part of the natural stages of development a child moves through as they grow. Unfortunately there is a lack of space and opportunity for young people to fulfil this need which can lead them into unhealthy or unsafe behaviours. Outdoor residential’s provide the perfect alternative by facilitating healthy risk taking in a safe environment. 🍃The challenges and activities that form an outdoor residential allow young people to see their skills outside of external recognition. They are encouraged to reflect on team tasks and how they and others achieved their goal. This is not about ‘who reached the summit first’. It is focused on who spotted an upcoming difficulty, who helped navigate the solution, who communicated this to the group, who helped the team stay motivated, or who supported others? Recognising contributions and skills beyond traditional academic areas is both inspiring and important for building self-esteem and confidence in all young people. The Brathay bursary will ensure more young people benefit from these life changing experiences, regardless of location, background, or financial circumstances. Please consider supporting the Brathay bursary by donating or sharing with others, it really does make a difference - https://lnkd.in/efahgVDU
We are thrilled to announce the launch of our Brathay Bursary! 🙌 It was officially launched last night at the Palace of Westminster by MPs Simon Fell and Tim Farron. Access to new experiences in outdoors is vital for young people's mental health and personal growth. However, the cost-of-living continues to impact families and schools being able to afford this necessity. The Brathay Bursary will ensure transformative school residential experiences are accessible to all. Our new initiative aims to support 5,000 more young people in the next 5 years to experience a life-changing residential. Play your part in changing a young person's life... we are now accepting your kind donations: https://lnkd.in/eAkax65k

BACKGROUND: Malik's Charitable Foundation was established in 2018 by Regina Walker. Regina's passion for community service and her son, Malik, inspired her to address the educational needs of underprivileged students. MCF provides school supplies, book bags and books, benefiting over 100 local students. This support improves attendance, self-esteem, and enthusiasm for learning. OUR MISSION: To empower underprivileged students by providing them with the necessary tools and resources to excel in their education and future goals. HOW WE HAVE ACCOMPLISHED OUR MISSION: In the 2022-2023 academic school year, we were able to attend an event at a local school during their Open House, where we were able to distribute book bags to deserving students. This event was a testament to MCF's commitment to fostering educational equity and nurturing the academic potential of every child. Furthermore, MCF's outstanding work through this event was recognized when the foundation was featured in the January 13, 2023 edition of the South Suburban News Newspaper. WHY OUR MISSION MATTERS: We believe that every child within our community should have equal opportunity and easy access to quality education. PLEASE JOIN US: Join us in this incredible journey to empower, uplift, and inspire. Your contribution is not just an investment in education; it's an investment in the boundless potential of the next generation. Learn more about our programs, volunteer opportunities, and how you can support our mission by visiting https://lnkd.in/etUskX_k. Together, we are architects of a brighter future, champions of hope, and the driving force behind dreams realized.
