An often-overlooked advantage of commissioning a drone pilot for construction progress monitoring, or indeed any industry, is the minimal impact on your time and site operations.
We can determine and agree upon the specific requirements in advance, without needing to be on-site, subsequently enabling us to carefully plan the flight path and adjust the settings to capture the agreed-upon data.
All we need on the day of the flight is a small, secure take-off and landing zone. There's no necessity for us to navigate through the site, thereby avoiding any disruption to your on-site personnel's activities. The launch and landing area can often be located on the site's outer perimeter, or, depending on the location, even entirely off-site.
Moreover, the flights can be scheduled at any time of the day, including outside of working hours. The key takeaway is that we can amass a vast amount of data with very minimal disturbance to your site's daily operations.
For instance, a flight would typically last just under 40 minutes, travel a distance of 7.2 km, and cover an area of 5.5 ha. This would allow us to capture:
358 nadir images of the entire site, which are then combined to generate a comprehensive image or map of the site with an approximate resolution of 1.4cm / px, available in both 2D and 3D.
- A 3D point cloud.
- A DSM (Digital Surface Model).
- A DTM (Digital Terrain Model).
- An additional 104 images taken automatically while circling the site's perimeter.
- An extra 92 images stitched together to create 4 x 360-degree panoramic images at different points around the site.
- Two videos: one recorded while flying the site perimeter, and another reverse angle shot flying down the middle of the site.
Post-processing is generally completed within a day or two, and we can provide the data in a range of formats to cater to the client's specific needs
