Powerful moving video with a great message
‘Together, we are stronger’ celebrates the migrants who come to Ireland to seek safety, security and a happy future for themselves and their families. Together, they make Ireland a better place. This video was inspired by the Department of Foreign Affairs video for St Patrick’s Day celebrating Ireland’s diaspora around the world. The featured song 'Danny Boy' was performed by Toshín, Jess Kav and Róisín El Cherif and was recorded by Will Farrell at Blast Audio Dublin. The video was shot at Russborough House and Park, Blessington, Co. Wicklow. With sincere thanks to all those who shared their stories with us and to creative agency Thinkhouse for working with us on this project. Also, we want to thank St. Stephens Green Trust and the Energy for Generations Fund who supported the making of this video. Visit https://lnkd.in/ekn4bUgd to find out more. Please share this video. #DontLetHateWin ActionAid Ireland works with women seeking asylum in Ireland, supporting them to claim their human rights and overcome marginalisation and poverty. They have reported increased racism and discrimination.

Helping professional women ditch overwhelm and simplify their lives, so they can do what it is important and thrive | Speaker
If anyone asked me 3 months ago, I’d have no idea that I would be living where I’m today. A wave of unexpected changes took me to this little corner of the world. And here I am! In Derry City, North of Ireland (or, depending on your background, Londonderry/Northern Ireland). It’s not a totally foreign place to me, as my husband is from here and we’d come on holidays to visit his family. But living in Derry? This idea would never have crossed my mind. Never. And, again, here I am. To my surprise (or, better said, to the surprise of my judgments of Derry being a sleepy place with not much happening as far as my interests go), in this short period of time I’ve already discovered quite a different side to it. A dynamic vibe among local entrepreneurs that is inspiring to be part of. Thank you, Derry, for stimulating me to question my old beliefs and see a different side of the story. After all, that's a big part of being in this part of the world. Or anywhere, really. Isn’t it? PS - By the way, have you watched Derry girls? PS2 - Living in Portugal is still in my plans, but on pause for the moment. 📷 Behind me is the Peace Bridge, built to symbolize the connection between the divided communities of Catholics and Protestants after so many years of conflict. ˜ I help founders create what they want without the overwhelm. DM if you want to know more. #peacebuilding #derry #change #northernireland #conflictresolution #flexibility #derrygirlsmeanbusiness

Australia is an amazing country. A place that I am so grateful to call my home. There is so much to celebrate about Australia, but today is not the day. I still find it fascinating that Australia Day only became a national holiday 30 years ago. We should have a respectful debate about this date. On this say, it's more important than ever to respect and listen to First Nations People. I met Jessica Staines from The Koori Curriculum through our membership of the Digital Collective. I really appreciate the information she shares and education she's providing, not just to early years educators but to people like me. She’s written a great piece which I encourage you to read (I'll share the link below). I’ve copied couple of paragraphs below. "Some might argue that ‘we aren’t responsible for the actions of our ancestors’, but this isn’t about blaming people for past wrongs, it’s about understanding how past acts of injustice continue to oppress and disadvantage Aboriginal people today. Others might say it’s not a ‘big deal’. But privilege is when you don’t consider something to be a problem because it doesn’t affect you personally. Just because it’s not a big deal for you, doesn’t mean it doesn’t cause pain to someone else. And choosing a different national day would mean we can all unify and celebrate together, rather than excluding the traditional owners of our nation." https://lnkd.in/g5FJkyvX

In the Battle of Puebla, a small group of soldiers, outnumbered three to one, defeated the French Foreign Legion, marking a victory now celebrated as Cinco de Mayo. This day underscores the deep connections between the U.S. and Mexico and celebrates Mexican-Americans, who significantly contribute to our nation. Today, over 37 million Hispanic Americans of Mexican origin enrich our communities through entrepreneurship and cultural contributions. As we honor this occasion, we reflect on the different political treatments of Latino issues. While some promote harmful rhetoric, President Biden and Vice President Harris are actively supporting Mexican-American families, leading to reduced child poverty rates among Latinos and a surge in Latino-owned businesses. This Cinco de Mayo, we celebrate our diversity as America’s strength. #nydailytrends #newyorkdaily #ElDíadelaBatalladePuebla #cincodemayo #battleofpuebla #culturamexicana #mexicanpride #brownpride #mexico #american #culture #biden #MondayMotivation
