Can #culturalintelligence actually extend your life?! We were fascinated to listen to Noreena Hertz talking recently at the RSA about her new book on the loneliness epidemic (The Lonely Century: How to restore human connection in a world that's pulling it apart). Apparently, having plentiful, successful social connections is an important factor in extending your lifespan, even more so (incredibly!) than good diet and exercise. If 40% of American employees report feeling lonely (another statistic from the book) then surely this is another sign that the time is ripe for #CQ, which helps people connect over cultural divides of all kinds? #loneliness #longevity #socialconnections #culture

Did you know researchers have looked into the intricacies of loneliness and found that individuals typically don't experience feelings of isolation until they spend at least 75% of their time alone? This highlights the important distinction between aloneness and loneliness, particularly among younger individuals, and reminds us of the significance of companionship. As we age, our social networks tend to shrink, making it increasingly challenging to maintain social connections. This decline in socialisation can cause feelings of loneliness, particularly among older individuals. To read more: https://bit.ly/3t5LVIS #Loneliness #MentalHealthMatters #LonelinessStats

This thought-provoking BBC clip has sparked a flurry of questions in my mind, and I invite you to join me in this reflective journey. Let's take a moment to introspect and ask ourselves: 🍀 Am I kind to myself? Do I prioritize my health and wellbeing? Do I find joy in my work? 🌿 Am I kind to others? Do I stand up for justice, equity, and fairness? Do I show respect and offer help when needed? 🧩 How do my actions impact those around me at work? Do they feel inspired, motivated, or indifferent? 🟢 Is my work environment nourishing for me and others? Is my organization dedicated to solving real problems, enhancing lives, and serving humanity? Feel free to add more questions in the comments below, and let's continue this meaningful conversation! #RAK #DAK #kindness #personalwellbeing #workplacewellness #solvefortrust #psychologicalhealthandsafety

🌟 Social connectedness, functional capacity, and longevity: A focus on positive relations with others. 🌟💖 The study aims to investigate the impact of positive relations with others on aging-related health outcomes, particularly longevity and functional capacity. Existing literature suggests that positive relations with others may play a crucial role in better health outcomes, including fewer functional limitations and increased longevity. However, few studies have specifically examined this aspect of social connection in relation to physical health. 💖 This study lies in its contribution to understanding the nuanced relationship between social connections and health outcomes, particularly in the context of positive relations with others. By highlighting the distinct role of positive relationships in promoting health and longevity, the study enriches existing literature on social connectedness and well-being. 💖🌿 Check out our video @ https://lnkd.in/gFfCtNpT highlighting how the quality of social relationships emphasizes the significance of nurturing meaningful connections, going beyond structural or functional aspects, for enhancing overall health in later life.💛 #SocialConnectedness #Longevity #PositiveRelations #LongerLifespan #LongevitySupplements #LongevityDiet #SocialIntegration #CellTalk #LifeScinces #Journal #HealthJournal #JournalClub #Healthcare #YouTube #SocialMedia #SocialNetworks #SocialSupport #Cardiovascular #LifeExpectancy

In a world that often values strength and resilience, we mustn't forget the profound impact of confidential support. 💬 Each one of us faces our own unique challenges, battles, and moments of vulnerability. Yet, far too often, the fear of judgment or societal stigma keeps us from sharing our thoughts and emotions openly. 🤐 Confidential support changes that. It provides an invaluable safe space where individuals can express themselves without fear, knowing they won't be judged or stigmatized. 🤝 It's in these moments of vulnerability and trust that true healing begins. When we share our thoughts and feelings, we not only alleviate the burden we carry but also discover that we're not alone. 👥 Through confidential support, we connect with empathetic listeners who provide solace and understanding. This connection transcends technology or geography; it's a human bond that reaffirms our shared humanity. 🌍 As we navigate the complexities of our lives, let's remember the power of a listening ear, a supportive friend, or a compassionate professional. The strength of confidential support lies in its ability to foster resilience and well-being. 🌱 So, reach out when you need to, and be that listening ear when others do. Let's promote a culture where confidentiality and empathy are celebrated, where no one ever feels isolated in their struggles. 🌟 Happy #MentalWellnessHealthDay #MWHD2023 #MentalWellness #Support #ConfidentialSupport #MentalHealthMatters #Empathy #WellBeing

3moMust have been such an incredible experience to hear Noreena talking about this important topic. The need for the attachment is, after all, one of the very basic psychological needs of humans, and it's so painful to see how many have their needs unmet.
