NC State School of Social Work Provides Virtual Workshop in Partnership With the CSWE SUDEALS Program: Join the North Carolina State University School of Social Work on Monday, June 24, 2024, at 10:00 AM (ET) for their Big Ideas Summer Workshop. Created in conjunction with the CSWE Substance Use Disorders Education and Leadership (SUDEALS) Program, this event will feature speaker Jerry St. Louis, who will present Working With Black Queer Men Who Use Crystal Meth. Attendees will learn new treatment strategies, how to describe contextual factors, and how to identify factors, as it relates to Black/African American gay communities and crystal meth addiction in the United States. HRSA Endorses New Resources for Occupational Licensure Compacts The U.S. Department of Health & Human Services (HHS) Health Resources & Services Administration (HRSA) has announced its support of the Multi-Discipline Licensure Resource Project. This resource serves as a guide to occupational licensure compacts for various healthcare professionals working between states or geographically isolated. The social work licensure compact, which was developed with the assistance of the Council on Social Work Education among other organizations, provides a compact map with information on licensing policies for all states and other educational resources. The ideal candidate will promote JSWE in the broader academic community and at the CSWE APM conference; work closely with the CSWE's editorial team and publisher, Routledge/Taylor & Francis; produce and design issue layout for four issues a year, including an editorial for each issue; respond to author inquiries and make editorial decisions; and other editorial duties as outlined in the full call. Dr. Denby-Brinson is dean and Kuralt Distinguished Professor of Public Welfare Policy and Administration in the School of Social Work at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill (UNC). Dr. Denby-Brinson's lecture, "Thank God the Apple Does Not Fall Far From the Tree: It's Time to Safeguard African American Families' Legacy," illustrates how Carl A. Scott paved the way for generations of researchers and educators who in turn transformed social work practice.
