How do you keep people from leaving your team? You can't. The best you can do is inspire them to keep their shields up.

Independence Day, 2024. I have deep thoughts, but today, I’m exercising my First Amendment right to say what I want. To all my lovely British friends: thanks for all the trolling and joint celebrations through the years. Especially to Harriet Cross, who taught me what true grace might look like when she was stationed here. Okay, that was sweeter than I meant to be, but today, let’s raise a toast to the British Empire, which has granted more people in the world the greatest gift imaginable: freedom. From the Brits, and especially their cuisine. (But thank you for the music.) To all the lead/demand gen teams out there: your automated sequences betrayed you worse than Benedict Arnold today when they flooded inboxes. To my Israeli friends, now in their eighth decade of their own War for Independence: hold your own flag and heads high. From Bava Metzia 59 to the Magna Carta to the Bill of Rights, we have woven a tapestry of rights under the law.

Blind compliance - when you think you're improving something (risk, for instance) without carefully assessing it - might often result in you actually making things worse. How did the Paris Olympics possibly make climate change worse by trying to make it better?

I think being put on the same list as Naftali Bennett is maybe the highest praise I’ll ever receive in my life. A close second is a gallery of photos from cool talks, in which you get a shot of every speaker … but a shot of my content, instead (well, that, or it’s a commentary on my looks)!

I've recently found more and more experiences where it was clear that the person who had decided how the interaction was going to go didn't stop and say, "How will the other people experience this interaction?" Consider more #inclusion in how you approach interactions.
