Generative AI - I'm sure this isn't the first and certainly not the last you'll see of this type of cautionary warning. As #AI continues to transform various industries and revolutionize the way we work, I've had the opportunity to explore the capabilities of Large Language Models (LLMs). While I'm impressed by these models ability of generating text, answering questions, and even creating code - all based on their training data. Despite their capabilities, however, I encounter situations where these models' limitations are apparent, underscoring the need for human oversight and #CriticalThinking. For instance, I've encountered situations where #LLMs have provided answers that are inconsistent or don't make sense. An example to this point: a simple PostgreSQL function using CodeGemma and Codellama, two popular models that should yield similar results when using the same parameters... but don't. As you can see, both models produced opposite answers. Just because an LLM is trained on vast amounts of data doesn't mean it's always accurate or objective. In fact, it highlights the importance of human validation and critical thinking when working with AI-driven tools. For example, let's say an LLM is tasked with generating a summary of a news article based on its training data. If that data contains biases or inaccuracies, the resulting summary could be misleading or even incorrect. Similarly, if an LLM is used to generate code for a software development project, it may not always produce the most efficient or effective solution. So, what? While LLMs can be incredibly useful for certain tasks, they're not infallible. Always double-check your results, question assumptions, and remember that AI is a tool.
