So the largest gas plant in the North East is headed for closure at the end of May 2024. Who do you think will pay the increase in utility costs to New England when that happens? New Englanders! Now is the time to jump into the renewable sector as this article states, the regulators are actually banking on the public doing just that to help supplement the grid. "The proliferation of rooftop solar installations have bolstered New England’s grid in recent years, and power plants that can burn fuel oil serve as backup. Regulators, who are banking on big renewable-energy projects coming online, have also offered incentives to stockpile fuel in the meantime. 📖 Read why @ WSJ calls Williams a A Safe, Profitable Bet on the Green Transition. Access to low-cost #natgas relies on having the right infrastructure to move energy when and where it's most needed. 📈 Over the last decade, U.S. dry natural gas production has grown 57% and demand (including for exports) has risen 45%. But interstate pipeline capacity for natural gas has expanded just 25% and natural gas storage delivery capacity by only 2%. https://lnkd.in/gNiZD3jJ

Natural gas accounts for 43% of electricity generation in the United States. Oil and gas are expected to continue as the primary sources of fuel for electricity and transportation in the foreseeable future. Therefore, the transition towards alternative energy sources should be implemented gradually to avoid any disruptions to economies and people's way of life.

Latest update from EIA.gov today, South Central Natural Gas storage has dropped by 100 BCF since July 14th, that is the largest summer drop ever. Yet, at the same time the Texas legislature is moving to incentivize building more natural gas power plants and to reduce the value of renewables and energy storage. No problem as long as you assume natural gas is abundant, the problem is two fold - first, lots of new LNG exporting terminals are under construction, and second, EIA is also predicting a drop in natural gas production due to prices being too low to encourage enough drilling. That means the days of $3 or less natural gas will end soon. The result will be higher electricity prices. #ERCOT #texasheat #energystorage #naturalgas
